This could be fun… Please no spoilers if you for sure know the answer.
I like reading old logs. Every once in a while, I come across one of Trekkin’ and Birdin’s logs of their winter caching adventures.
Most of these logs contain a mention of “Trekkin’s secret winter caching weapon.”I’ve often wondered what exactly is this secret weapon. Is it a flame thrower? Could it be a metal detector? Does he drink lots of water between caches and strategically relieve himself at GZ melting the snow around the cache site in hopes of revealing the container?
Obviously this is an ultra secret weapon so I don’t expect T&B to be revealing the answer any time soon.
Anyone have any theories?06/05/2010 at 7:38 am #1930503My guess is some special x-ray/thermal type goggles that home in on tupperware 😆

Anyone have any theories? Not sure about Trekkin’, but you just spilled the beans about ours 😯 😯 😯
As far as for Trekkin’, can you give us some context by providing the words in a written sentence from one of their logs? Otherwise, would have to say, without a doubt, it’s most likely: Birdin’ 😀 😀
06/05/2010 at 5:20 pm #1930506I think he uses the same secret weapon as his brother MR. TE.

It’s a “Yooper” Thing. And ya have to go to Yooperville, way up in Yooperland in to get one……OK, maybe not…..but I have and old, old one and a shiny one, ya sure eh’. And in a pinch ya can warm up a pasty too if need be. Ya get em’ at the same store that carries snow pankers.
06/05/2010 at 10:38 pm #1930508I tink you can get one at da there place called Ishpeming, at da Yooper Tourist Trap… Yah Eh!!

I think that the log passage Helidood is referring to is from “A Heap of Old Garbage” where T&B logged,
“Diligent and determined searching paid off here, as it was well concealed under the snow, but I do believe Trekkin’ came up with this one with his dreaded secret winter caching weapon.”
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
06/06/2010 at 2:06 am #1930510And this one from Sherwood Forest GC13T8Y
We walked in to the area our GPSr was suggesting, and by flashlight, lots of pushing of snow and poking and prodding were done. Trekkin’ had his winter caching secret weapon, and had actually looked very close to the hiding area once, but it took NoSnow to turn over one more thing to find this very well-hidden cache.
These are just a few example, but there are many more.
After they found Heap of Old Garbage, I read about the Secret Weapon and had to go up there to see if I could figure out what it was. They may have left foot prints in the snow, but no other clues.06/06/2010 at 3:28 am #1930511Thanks BigJim & Heli!
Now, let the speculation continue!
Could it be Roosevelt’s Grampa? You know, a Big ‘Nosey Bear’ ‘Nose Poker’, like they have in da U.P.
Whatever it is, hope they keep that ace up their sleeves. 8) Won’t be a ‘secret’ anymore, should they spill the beans………….06/06/2010 at 4:54 am #1930512hmmmmm my list of potential secrets weapons:
A propane blow torch
A telescoping night stick
A cache sniffin’ dog
The ability to converse with woodland critters
A metal detector
A cell phone and blackmail list of cachers
A deep well shovel06/06/2010 at 12:14 pm #1930513Yep… more and more sure he copied the idea from his little bro who started caching a couple years before Trekkin….
TE06/06/2010 at 3:18 pm #1930514I always thought it was Birdin

More like a third cousin twice removed or something.
Personally, I like Kansas64’s answer.
