Zuma, and some others, have been placing tribute caches when a person turns 1000, or some other number.
Does anyone have a bookmark of these caches? Or is willing to create one?

Is this in Years? I think the list would be pretty short.

08/03/2008 at 4:13 am #1894109I’m still waiting for my new friends to hit 1000, right Lisa? The old ones already crossed that line before my time.
08/03/2008 at 4:39 am #1894110This seems to be a western Wisconsin thing, when working on the Delorme I saw these on that side of the state and I am yet to see one in the Southeastern Wisconsin area.
I am hoping to break the tradition and give the accolades to one of our area cachers, Doctor Dolittle. He yesterday crossed the 800 mark and like me he is trying to reach 1000 in his first year, or at least give us a run for my money in trying to stay ahead of us (good thing he doesn’t read the forums on this site). If he keeps pace with us he should cross the 1000 mark around the first weekend of September.
Hopefully with one being recognized in this area we can start a trend on this side of the state also08/03/2008 at 5:50 pm #1894111@kansas64 wrote:

Hopefully with one being recognized in this area we can start a trend on this side of the state alsoYes, it is primarily a western WI thing. I got the idea a couple of years ago from seeing similiar silver ammo cans in northern IL for folks who passed 1K, so I started putting them out here.
Initially, I intended to put one out for everyone in WI within 100 miles of Eau Claire, and did so at first. Now DB is beating me to many folks, and that is fine with me. Also T&B have been beating me to the punch in the La Crosse area. The Minnesota people have also been copying the idea since I started up here, but I really cant complain, since I copied it from northern IL.
I plan to keep doing it, but if others in the area want to beat me to the punch like DB and T&B have often been doing, that is fine with me too. I have no plans for putting out silver ammo cans for some of the fine folks who live more than a 100 from Eau Claire, so if others want to pick up the tradition in other parts of the state, I think that would be great.

08/03/2008 at 6:15 pm #1894112Don’t tell tropper123 but I have one planned for him too. Just about 350 caches late thou.
08/03/2008 at 8:44 pm #1894113My wife informed me that we know another team sitting at 992, most likely waiting. to claim the West Bend Event for 1000. Note: to self buy another ammo can and get some silver paint.
Hey my fellow Eastern Wi Cachers, we should see what we can do it make this happen on our side of the state. I also know of a team in the Fond du Lac area (I think?) that is near that benchmark. Why not start representing our side of the state by recognizing those who hit those marks also.

08/04/2008 at 12:40 am #1894115Hey, Ralph …. would you consider expanding your Bookmark to include a tribute cache for anyone placed by anyone?

Thanks Chris…..Dont know how I missed Trooper123 passing 1K!!! I should have put one out for him. I have even met him twice, once on the trails, and once at your Hayward event, and he seems like a great guy. Plus he is within my 100 mile radius, with lots of great caches out. I know folks on the forums dont know him cuz he isnt in the forums, but he is definately deserving of the tribute cache.
Chris, if you cant get one out, just let me know, and I will do it. Otherwise, I will let you have the honor of putting it out, since you are closer and know him better. All you have to do is get an ammo box and a can of silver spray paint, and paint the ammo box silver.
As a side point, a couple of us have been using gold paint for the 5k ammo boxes, and there are a few of those out now too.

Maybe, if no one else wants to. I have a lot of bookmarks already, and will run up against my limit soon. But if no one else volunteers, I might do it after MWGB. I guess I would prefer if someone else did it, but will consider it if no one else wants to.

Yeah, that is a good example. That one is the one DB did for Snoopy. DB is a little fancier and more artistic than me and decorates them. I just paint them silver and stash them.
Nice bike, BTW.

Consider it done! I have had the cache paited for awhile and just got the go ahead from the DNR for placement for his cache and others along the Big Chip.

That’s my problem also – I’m close to hitting the limit.
