TyeDyeSkyGuy
MemberGreetings WGA members, My name is Jay Sampson, many of you know me as TyeDyeSkyGuy or TyeDyeSkyCrew. I’ve been geocaching since March of 2006, and a member of the WGA since right about the same time. TyeDyeSkyCrew consists of my son and myself and sometimes my wife/x-wife (long story) 🙂
For the past year, I have been a member on 4 committees here at the WGA, two of them, for two years now. I have worked hard, with some great people on these committees, and we have accomplished a lot, especially in this past year. We’ve created a new geocoin and new Path Tag, completely revamped the COTM and COTY, created brochures and handouts for law enforcement and community leaders to better educate them to our hobby, and made many, many changes, advancements and updates to the web-site. This is just to name a few of the things our committees have worked together to accomplish, and we’re still working on so much more.
Joining these committees made me realize just how much goes on behind the scenes here at the WGA. I love being a part of it and seeing our hard work being implemented, and enjoyed.
I’m not much of a politician, so I won’t make any promises, sans just this one. If I get the opportunity, I will do everything in my power to continue making the WGA one of the premier Geocaching related web communities.
About me: Many of you know, I have a never give up attitude. I like to see things through, and get things done in a timely matter. I like to take everyones opinions into account before making an informed decision, and I try to make the best decision possible, based on research and by listening to the members wants and needs. This attitude has worked very well in the last two years to help get things done in the committees, the way the members want it done.
I generally hold at least one event per year in my local area, as well as meet very often with other geocachers at a local coffee clutch to geo-chat and such. I find this a great way to enjoy time with friends, but also, a great way to listen to the geocaching community, and hear what they are looking for and expect from the WGA. This has also helped me and guided me to making good choices on the committees.
I hope I have the honor to further serve this great organization, and I look forward to the challenge, and will give it my absolute all if elected.
Thanks for reading, and remember to vote, no matter whom you will cast your vote for.
