Trekkin’ has had this “goal” to just once, clear off every single cache in our 50 mile radius. Today, we met his goal. The only things that still come up—for now!—are a cancelled event and a cache that hasn’t been found in almost 2 years and was verified missing and disabled this spring.
He has promised me that once we meet this goal, we don’t have to look for ones we don’t want to. Anyone want to start a pool on whether he can be a man of his word? 🙄
Now maybe I can work on my gardens!
07/15/2008 at 6:40 pm #1892233WOW! 50 miles! That must be alot! Nice job! You’re a good sport 🙂 I love that line… “we don’t have to look for ones we don’t want to” LOL! Is there someone twisting his arm!? … We won’t banish him if he lets one slip by every once in a while 🙂
Well, congratulations, anyway. That’s a very impressive feat!

They didn’y tell you that there were only 3 caches in that radius 😆 . Congrats T&B.

07/16/2008 at 2:22 am #1892236When I passed the 4000 mark (December 2006) there were only 95 some caches within my 50 miles radius.
I now have nearly 7800 caches, but the 50 mile radius stands at 422, and is climbing every day.
My goals are: Puzzles , WSQs, Multis.
07/16/2008 at 8:30 am #1892237Hmmm, my unfound in 50 miles is only 2562. Could take a while!
07/17/2008 at 1:21 am #1892238well lets see what kind of cache can we put out there T&B will have a real hard time with and may even not be able to do

How about a puzzle cache ….. with no cache at the end?
When they indicate a DNF or a MIA, you go out to ‘verify’ the cache, and you log a note saying everything as it should be.

I could supply one of my ready to go Sudoku caches.

Congratulations. That is a goal that I set for myself once, and did not accomplish. Some kid put out a cache in a tree 40 feet up, and I knew there was no dang way I was going to get that one.
Anyway, now that your goal is met, what is the next goal??? Got to have goals. Or maybe not. My goal is to have as much fun as possible and discover as many new places as I can before the economy totally tanks.

07/18/2008 at 11:47 pm #1892242Hey thanks everyone. Ralph, your goal is always the same one we have, but we have one more cache to find, and then we’ll be mighty thirsty! 😉 I have not actually seen that tree you’ve mentioned, but depending on the tree, if I feel safe, we could team on that one. I thought it was 60 feet up. 40 doesn’t sound so bad!
The beauty of meeting this goal is….Trekkin’ has *promised* that once achieved, we don’t have to chase anything in our 50 anymore, unless we choose to do so. I will hold him to that promise! Though I have to say, we do enjoy the tough terrain ones, and a clever puzzle that we can actually solve is always fun, too. We need more canoe caches down here. We’re hoping to help remedy that situation in the near future, but we’d love to have some we can find, too! Shrek and Fiona, don’t you guys have canoes? Hint hint!
If anyone wants to put out letterbox hybrids, I’ll go for them, even if Trekkin’ doesn’t. We’re trying to help increase the number of those around, too. That’s the fun of this sport, lots of variety and something for everyone.
I’d have to agree, trying to meet this goal over near Milwaukee would be frustrating. Right now, it says there are 808 caches within 50 miles of here, a bunch of which belong to us, and probably offset however many have been archived around here since we started. With rising gas prices, I was dubious about maintaining such a goal, actually!

LOL. Just out of curiousity, which of the NW 12-pack do ya still have left to find?

07/19/2008 at 2:44 am #1892244Um, just the final! The rest are history, fun memories, but history! We thought about making that run this weekend, but it looks like it would make more sense to grab it on the way home from visiting Mom and Dad in the Cities sometime. We’re really starting to evaluate our travel plans and trying to combine things better.
Unless we see our chances of being one of the first 12 finishers shrinking. 🙄 It’s been a fun challenge, every one of those 12 caches has been awesome.

Great. Maybe you can come to the WGA regional event in New Auburn August 2, and i can give ya your 12 pack then?
BTW, Robin just told me that she just planted some caches in your 50 mile radius, so warm up your engines. (of course, she wont tell me where.)

07/19/2008 at 12:28 pm #1892246Speaking of the NW 12-pack, I was just poking my nose into it, and one’s been archived. One of the Bjornsons. Got a new choice in mind Ralph? Nudge, nudge.
