An idea popped in my head yesterday that I figured I would share here and see if someone can use. I would like to see a shirt that looks like a uniform, it should have patches and a place for the owners name. One of the patches could say something like “Official Inspector” the other “of guard rails, lamp posts and other metal things around the world”. Maybe a matching clip board and hat. I think many geocachers would enjoy a “uniform” like this to help them cover up the game playing in high muggle areas.
What do you think??
TE07/14/2009 at 1:35 am #1910792I’ve seen a number of cachers use the clipboard idea in tandem with the chartreuse road worker vests that one can buy at Fleet/Farm. In fact I’ve had people ask me what kind of work “we” were going to be doing in the park, just because I had a clipboard and was standing next to a tree that had some surveyors tape tied to it.
07/14/2009 at 1:39 am #1910793I thought about the same thing, getting one of those workers vests and wearing one of those. Night caching wouldn’t be the greatest since you would be highly visible.

Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

TEYou could have a velcro emblem on the shirt with changeable patches. If you were at a guard rail you would become a guard rail inspector, dead end, cemetery and on and on.
07/14/2009 at 12:20 pm #1910796We have a T-shirt (received it as a gift) that has the name of a fake company and the words “street lamp inspection and maintenance” under the name.
07/14/2009 at 11:28 pm #1910797Funny you should mention this today. I was just thinking about how to be less obvious, and thought maybe the vest and hard hat and clipboard, but then thought maybe that would only make me more obvious. I have also considered wearing my WGA nametag. From a distance I might look like I had official business. Of course, if anyone actually asked me what I was doing, I suppose I would have to come clean. I hardly look the part of an official inspector of any kind. Does anyone regularly cache “in uniform”?
07/15/2009 at 1:52 am #1910798Just dress up as a homeless person and walk around mumbling to yourself while pushing your shopping cart full of junk and people will not even see you much less bother you.
07/15/2009 at 2:21 am #1910799On the complete opposite end of things, I tend to wear brightly colored shirts when caching (especially in the Northwoods). I guess I figure if I’m stranded in the woods the rescue helicopter would be able to find me more quickly. 😆
Or I wear my Northwoods Treasure Hunt shirt with coords on the back, maybe people will know what I’m doing if I wear that. 8)

I think I kinda look like that already. Does that put me ahead of the curve?
