If there is a cache that someone is not taking care of and apparently don’t care about it, is there anything you can do? I have tried sending emails to them volunteering to adopt it but no response. Afterwards they posted this message on their cache page. “If it’s missing, someone moved/took it. It was a camouflaged ammo box wedged between two rocks with some branches on top.It was near the top of an outcrop. We wanted it to be easy to find? Oh well.
We are( there name).”Seems kind of sarcastic to me.
I was not sure if I should post the exact cache or not.
Thank you for any suggestions.

07/01/2011 at 3:04 pm #1949551If the owner isn’t interested in maintaining it or adopting it out, the in needs to be archived. Replacing the container is just perpetuating the problem.

07/01/2011 at 3:17 pm #1949553I resubmitted my archive log. Hopefully they will catch it and it can be replaced (most likely right after the day it is archived).

07/01/2011 at 6:40 pm #1949554If the cache is an older placement, like “Belles Cache”, which is in a SNA, temporay maintenance would be nice, rather than losing a grandfathered placement.
We helped out on an unresponsive CO’s cache for 1 year, then requested the Archive. I guess 12 monthes is long enough to wait!

Not necessarily, with obvious exceptions for poor locations/coords, if you the NA person is going to replace it with a new cache right away why not just fix it, put a watch on this one and keep it going.
