Just posting to get the word out that the UWSP Geocaching Club will be hosting an event April 19th for CITO. More planning is needed and I was just looking for a couple suggestions from fellow North Central Wisconsinites. Any suggestions?
I did a CITO event last April, so I will chime in a bit.
Work with he Park and Recs department. You can iron out a lot of details like what to do with all the trash. They will usually let you put it in an existing dumpster or arrange to have one but you will have to ask for it. Also I was able to get garbage bags from them. But also talk to them about where their needs are and work with them to get it clean.
Also try to make it a fun activity. Folks are gonna volunteer their time to help get it clean try to find creative ways to reward everyone for coming. Usually it will be enough to give them enough time to find local caches, but a dish to pass lunch works too.
Pictures, Plenty of pictures and put them on the cache page to help advertise how much help was put into the project and promoting the positive impact that it had. And send them to the land manager so they can see what was one on their property.
