Uploading issues with Megellan GPS

I have been TRYING to upload waypoints FROM my GPS TO the computer. It goes thru 2 WPTs then stops and gives some weird comment with an encrypted or something WPT listed. Even gave it to my Caching buddy to take home and try on his computer and with his cord. Same problem though. Have tried changing Baud Rates, and a cpl other odds and ends. NOTHING! Anyone have any ideas??? and NO…..I’m not getting a Garmin, so DON’T even go there! 😛

Sorry, can’t help since mines a Garmin.
But, I’m guessing that who ever will help will have 2 questions:

(1) What model is your Magellan?

(2) What is the EXACT error message your getting when this happens?

Try re-initializing it. After you do that leave it outside in one spot for about half an hour to let it get signal lock. Then see what happens.

If you continue to have problems you can go to the Magellan web-site and send them an e-mail explaining your problem. They’re pretty good about figuring out what’s going on.

Magellan uses “secret” key sequences and/or menus to perform a reset of the unit. Need to know which unit we are dealing with in order to assist further.

for most magellans, with the unit off hold the power and menu button to reset the unit. problem with that is youll loose all your waypoints that your trying to save. there are quite a few topics about this very same thing on the geocaching.com forums. so i would say try searching on there to get more info. one thing that you could try is try uploading waypoints to a differant program…. this might work. sorry can’t be more help, sold both my meridian golds and bought a legendC and never looked back

Thanks for all your input everyone. It is a Magellan SporTrak Pro. Digital Dan got it working. Ended up deleting all WPT’s and setting up all over again.

Wheeeeeewh!! That was easier than I thought.
