These particular flatlanders are geocheeseheads on weekends. There are others, as well. It appears that Cheesehead Dave has seen fit to give them special dispensation because their homes are in Wisconsin while their houses are not. I think I can understand that.

10/01/2003 at 3:15 pm #1745717First, I’m allowing anyone who has a find in Wisconsin to add their stats to the chart. To quote TATB, they’re “Geocheeseheads”
Next, I think I’ve got the auto-updating down. Every two minutes (to not swamp GC.com with page requests) one lucky team will get their stats updated. This will continue for each team on the list until all teams have been updated. Then it all starts again. Since there’s currently 22 teams on the chart, the stats will be fully updated every 44 minutes. What you also get from the auto-updating is a breakdown of finds by type (traditional, multi, etc.)
I’m still working through a few bugs. I’m suffering from the same problem that Dan’s page did in that if you make multiple logs for a cache on the same day, they will only be counted once. This is mostly a problem with event caches, where even if you log 20 finds, if they’re all on the same day they only get counted once. People have been able to get around this by logging each event find on a different day. That’s up to you. Either way, you can still update your grand total to reflect reality.
Speaking of updating your grand total, please don’t update it right away when you find caches. Give the page enough time to cycle through all the teams and your totals should increment automagically. If a day goes by and your totals are still wrong, then do a manual update. Again, you should only have to manually update if you have multiple logs for a single cache.
Finally, if you didn’t notice, you can now click on the column headings to sort by that column.
Enjoy!

10/01/2003 at 5:24 pm #1745718Very nice page Cheesehead! I really miss Dan Miller’s page, it gave me an idea of what everyone else was doing. Yes, I am a competative person and I have not cached as much since Dan’s page went down. I think the finds/day feature is a great idea and gives me something to shoot for. Would it be possible to add columns for Wisconsin finds and hides?
10/01/2003 at 6:24 pm #1745719I just added a log and went to check….
10/01/2003 at 6:24 pm #1745720COOL…..
10/01/2003 at 10:22 pm #1745721Love the stats page!! Too bad we cant seem to get our totals up… Life’s been getting in the way lately…
One question though… Our total finds/hides are correct. But, if you go to the right where everything is broken down per the type of cache… Our numbers don’t add up. I’ve always assumed that we have been logging our Event finds incorrectly, and this is where the problem seems to come from.. Can anybody help us understand this?
Thanks!

10/02/2003 at 12:07 am #1745723We really like this stats page. Not so much for competition but just to keep track of whats going on. thanks
Bill and Debbie10/02/2003 at 1:41 am #1745724You have done a great job with this feature. I agree it would be nice to track Wisconsin finds but I imagine this to be a logistical nightmare.
Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this and thanks to the beast for being our “official” record keeper.10/02/2003 at 7:56 am #1745725(smiles) very nice indeed.. (blush) no teasing me about the Finds per day.. I’ve been sitting here all day and didn’t do a one (grins)

10/02/2003 at 12:32 pm #1745726Well…
It seems that the fine folks at GC.com do not want people mining their site for stat data. As far as I can tell, sometime yesterday my server was blocked from accessing any page from GC.com. Therefore, it looks like the stats page is back to self-serve for now, and probably to stay.
When I get some time, I’ll add in a way for you to be able to update your individual totals as well as a place to note how many Wisconsin finds you have.
Sigh.
10/07/2003 at 1:58 pm #1745727You may now go in and update your individual cache type totals. (traditional/multi/virtual/etc.) You can now also enter how many Wisconsin finds you have. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out a good way for you to get that number other than going into your logs and counting by have. No problem if you only have a couple dozen, but if you’re in the hundreds with several other states mixed in as well as post-a-notes and not-founds, it may be more of a challenge…
These will show up on the front page where you will be able to see them and also sort the list by the types.
Since I can’t get at any GC.com data, there’s really no point right now for entering individual finds/hides, so clicking on the “Update Stats” link will take you directly to your totals page.
We’re up to 25 names! Fantastic!

10/08/2003 at 3:10 pm #1745728I tried to sign in and update my info. No luck. When I go to the page, it does say my name at the top. So I’m guessing that my sign-in works fine. But I have updated my finds by type and the number of hides, but nothing shows. I don’t see my name in the list after saving those #’s. Then when I go back into the edit area, everything is 0 again. Help!
