I want to let WGA membership know about a project your board of directors is working on. It’s a video that would explain geocaching to park managers and other groups.

Here’s the current background for the project:

    Audiences, in order of priority:
    1. Parks managers
    2. Elected officials
    3. General public (adults)

    Objectives
    1. Promote geocaching access on public land in Wisconsin.
    2. Demonstrate what geocaching is.
    2. Let audience know about the role of the WGA to help educate geocachers and work with parks managers.

    Viewing context:
Could be used as either a stand-alone video sent to a park manager, or as a presentation aid to supplement someone speaking to a manager, governing body, or other organization.

    Formats:
VHS, DVD, CD, and possibly lower resolution web version.

    Content could include:
    – Family hunting an easy 2-2 cache in a city park.
    – Hikers hunting a more challenging 3-4 cache in a state park or forest.
    – Soundbites from interviews with park manager(s) and geocachers.
    – Footage or stills taken at WGA events.
    – Explanation of some of the basic geocaching rules, such as no burying caches.
    – Explanation of how caches are submitted, approved, and maintained (the relationship between the WGA and geocaching.com to approve and monitor caches in Wisconsin)
    – Voice-over narration.
    – Contact information: WGA website, mailing address.
    – Invitation to join WGA.

We hope to shoot some video next week. Release date is TBD, depending on how quickly we complete all the video shooting and editing. If you have comments or resources you feel you could contribute to this effort, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks!
