Virus in a GPX file

Just a little warning. I received two online queries from geocaching.com today – one I had ordered up last night and one was a repeat of one I had cancelled after receiving it the first time. The repeat was snagged by Norton Antivirus as having a known virus attached to it. So you might be a bit wary of any repeater that you did not have on your request list.
Better yet – just make sure you Virus software is up-to-date.
Some of the viruses out there can do some interesting things now.

I’ve started getting a virus warning in one of my pocket queries. I’ve been unable to use one of my searches because my norton virus warning keeps popping up. I wonder if a certain cache has a virus file in or or what?

I don’t have any PDA devices yet to do pocket queries so this question may not fit. But is it possible for you to e-mail the querie(s) that are being tagged as viruses? I could take a look at it on my FreeBSD box and see if I spot any malicious code.

I wouldn’t be surprised if norton thinks it is seeing some sort of macro though. This is very curious because if it is possible to spread viruses through pocket queries or GPX files that are retrieved off of geocaching.com’s server it could be a big problem.

I have found that if you download the file in the zip format it takes away the problem of Norton rejecting files due to a phantom virus.
