How many voting members are there?
How many have voted so far?
02/08/2007 at 2:52 pm #1769868There are currently 933 active WGA members.
127 members have voted.
02/08/2007 at 2:55 pm #1769869My impression was that the 993 number included out of state people as well.

If you mean “933” (the number listed at the top of the membership list), not “993” (the number you listed) I believe that represents active WGA members, not friends. The full list shows 69 active WGA friends.
02/08/2007 at 7:35 pm #1769871I voted!! GO TEAM GO!!
02/08/2007 at 11:36 pm #1769872So can anyone clarify/verify this? What exactly does active mean?
Have 933 people signed up for or renewed their membership within the past 12 months? To me, this would be the “active membership”.
02/09/2007 at 12:22 am #1769873More definitively, it means that 933 WGA Member accounts have been created and are current, allowing the account holder to vote in the BoD election.
02/09/2007 at 1:31 am #1769874127 is a rather sad turnout. Hmmmm wonder how we can get MORE members to vote or get the word out to them. Maybe ont this year but up and coming years. I’ll add that to my “Honey-do” list!
02/09/2007 at 2:18 am #1769875While you may think 127 (now 131) is a sad turnout, it is better than before.
2003 – 48
2004 – 55
2005 – 82
2006 – 100
2007 – 131+I don’t have access to the WGA membership numbers for those years so I can’t tell you if the percentage increased.
02/09/2007 at 2:29 am #1769876More interesting data…
From just a quick count – so this could be wrong – there are only 192 active members that have visted the website since 1/1/2007. That 131+ statistic doesn’t look as bad when you consider that.
02/09/2007 at 2:12 pm #1769877I’m curious if it’s possible for the BOD to send those 933 WGA members an email telling them about the election and that it was time to vote. I don’t recall ever getting an email from the WGA other than private messages.
That’d be a way to get the membership more involved.

I agree with ya on that Ruth. Still…. people don’t even have to leave the comfort of their homes and can vote at 2am in their Jammies. Unlike a primary election for governmental officials. Just makes me wonder sometimes if people just don’t wish to participate or are visiting the site and not noticing. Don’t know how they can’t notice with the spread on the first page. LOL I guess it’s like opening the refrigerator….Nope.. nothing there .. and it’s right in front of your nose LOL I’ve done THAT before, myself!! 😀

I feel that should be a requirement
😆
02/09/2007 at 9:36 pm #1769880Here is a real quick number to consider: On Jan 1,2003 we had about 300 members, 48 votes is 16%. Today we have 933 members, 131 votes is 14% and there are still a couple of days to go.
02/09/2007 at 11:25 pm #1769881I wonder how many people signed up after seeing one of Vince’s Fox 6 stories- it is likely that a lot of people might join out of curiosity and then not visit the site much after the fact.
It would be interesting to have some idea what percentage of people try geocaching and don’t continue the activity. With all the publicity caching has gotten in the past year or so, this would account for a good number of the non-voting members.
