My GPSr just died. I don’t know what happened but it doesn’t see satellites anymore.
I had a Garmin Emap and want the same thing since that is what I have the peripherals for. Might someone have one to get rid of before I try Ebay?
Lee
They seem to be on ebay.
I too have an eMap that I’ve used prior to even knowing what geocaching is … I love that old eMap … I feel the pain of your loss.
Does it power-up and seem to have all the screens functional … just no satelite data coming at it?
TRY THIS before throwing it out … attempt a factory reset, but be aware that you will lose an data (waypoints, routes, etc.) you have stored …
(1) Start with the Power OFF
(2) HOLD DOWN the [Esc] Key while Powering ON the unit
(3) You will see a warning screen
(4) Set the unit outside with clear view of the sky for about 15 minutes
… see if this fixes your problem … then send me $5 in the mail if it works (just kidding).
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
You fixed it. I lost the manual years ago and forgot all about master reset.
Where do I send the $5?
Lee
Cool!
No $$$$ required.
Just make a promise to come to my neck of the woods sometime at find my 5 new caches (Zip Code 53004, all starting with the word “Harrington”) … as I’m sad that more people have not searched them out yet 😥 … the mystery one is my new favorite of my caches 8)
Also … I don’t think you’d find that “trick” in the manual … I believe it to be undocumented. There are other “tricks” to, but most of them are for testing the screen and buttons after the unit was produced.
