In May of 2006 we made reservations at Americinn in Sturgeon Bay to do some Trudy camping for the WGA Camp-out. When we checked in, we were greeted from the balcony by Jim & Kathy [Timberline echos]. We finished our business on the first floor and went upstairs to visit with TE just as EcoRangers entered and checked in. This weekend we returned for a mini-caching adventure to find a Groundspeak window cling on the front door, a copy of Idiot’s Guide to Geocaching, a Geocaching T-shirt and a regular size cache displayed on a lobby shelf. Americinn of Sturgeon Bay has adopted Geocaching as an activity they offer to their customers. They provide a GPS and they hide caches in three county parks for their guests to find.
Now, how cool is that. I don’t know where they got the idea to do this, but we need to spread the word that this Inn is Cacher friendly.

On the Left Side of the Road...11/10/2008 at 12:33 pm #1897629As I understand it, these caches are temporary, put out during the summer months and are not listed. I sent an e-mail to the Inn’s manager this morning requesting additional details.
11/10/2008 at 12:55 pm #1897630It is nice to see this. I have a series of private caches that I placed at the request of the folks at Eagle Cave for the same purpose, something fun for their guests to do.

11/12/2008 at 12:28 pm #1897632We are working with a couple resort/condo places in our area too. One we already have a multi on the grounds that is open for everyone. The place is hoping to have some units available for people staying there. At the second one we have taught a basic Geocaching class and they would like some caches put on the property. It is one of those win/win situations.

I received a response from the Mgr and he confirmed that these caches are not published and that they are in place for a limited time during “the season.” He was pleased that we were interested in their promotion. He did not provide any more detail than we already have.
BTW, when we checked in Saturday, we both looked to the balcony for familiar faces.. there were none.
