There’s a great new puzzle cache out in Wausau – Templar Treasure that you have to try. It does involvepaddling so if you have to travel, bring your boat. But there’s so many great paddleable caches in wausau now that travelling with your boat is definately worth it. And if you live in / around Wausau, what are you waiting for? This one could easily be the next cache of the month! Awesome job to TBC for putting it together… Zuma… 3 people have already found it… better hurry! (I’m in the middle of this one right now)

Man, I looked at the cache page, and didnt know where to even start to solve the puzzle…..I just aint that smart….
I did like the great graphics on the page though, and even used one of them as my wallpaper in hopes of getting inspiration, but so far, no luck.

HINT: Start at WP#1.
07/03/2008 at 12:08 pm #1891686I have had atleast one puzzle in the past that “starts at WP #1” and soo many people “don’t get it” or just ignore the listing. I even put text on the page that says “start at the posted coordinates” and they still didn’t get it. The “puzzle” was simple.
It’s just a byproduct of all the fear, anxiety, etc. around these mystery caches. Many are sooo easy and soo much fun but they go ignored by the masses. Too bad for them.
That templar one sounds intriguing to me as well but anything requiring a water vehicle would be a rather big ordeal for me. Pondering a closer water-crossing lonely find though for an upcoming milestone.

07/03/2008 at 1:39 pm #1891687The first WP is where the puzzle begins. It’s probably worth going to WP1 just for the unique “container”. It never occurred to me that people wouldn’t go to WP1. That wasn’t supposed to be part of the puzzle.
I think the blue question mark on the map, and the Terrain 5 are keeping most finders away. They take more time and planning. There’s an easy island cache on the same water that I haven’t been able to get yet, not to mention the rest of the great water hides around Wausau.
If anyone needs water transportation, just send a quick email. You only need to figure out the puzzle first, and it’s not that tough. (contemplating whether or not to zing Mathman here… 😉 )07/03/2008 at 4:03 pm #1891688@-cheeto- wrote:

-cheeto-So why the problem with my puzzle? 🙄
07/03/2008 at 4:22 pm #1891689We hope to get back that way and tackle this one sometime. We spent our time paddling all the fun ones (except one, now a Lonely) on the Eau Claire, but there are many more up there for paddle nuts. I guess I figured it was one where you start at waypoint 1, so I had that much figured out!
08/26/2008 at 3:12 am #1891690Speaking of Wausau caches, I was finally able to get two of my disabled caches up and going again. One of them, Bog Ponds Islands, is the final of a series that takes you along some cool paddles to islands in the WI River, and the history of Wausau. The container has been replaced with a new FTF prize, and lots of cool swag. The other is the Trail Center cache, along the new trail that connects the area around the Cedar Creek Mall with the new pedestrian bridge across the WI River in Rothschild. Some cacher had moved the original container where he thought GZ should have been and then no one else could find the cache. Again, a new FTF prize plus lots of cool swag, including some of those cool sig mini paddles. Sorry for taking so long to get these back out there.
