Does anybody on this board use the waymarking site. Does Wisconsin have a lot of POI on it. I was not able to find many around the Appleton area.
I do not use waymarking, but funny you should ask. Just had a fella from one of my classes, who is a bit frustrated with not being to find caches, ask about such a place, so I refered him to waymarking. There might not be much listed since groundspeak shifted all the locationless caches to be over there. Sounds like they may have people going there to enter them, but did not transfer all the ones previously on GC.com
I think Waymarking would be good for vacations but it just seems hard to navigate the site for the area that one would be interested in. But that must be because it is quite new and the best way has not yet been figured out.
From what I have read… it is currently in a state of transition, and they are waiting until there are more entries before they work on the searching/logging features.
unfortunately it seems that the biggest areas entered so far are the not so helpful ones… mcdonalds, etc.
Ya who needs a GPS to find McDonalds. The kids have a nose for a happymeal.
Did a few WM’s and created one. I’m in Kenosha and there aren’t too many to find, but there is a lot of room to create some. If you know of some interesting spots that would be a great virtuals, sign up and create some WMs. This could be a great way for people that like ‘to go to a place’ to do it. Also, these places will not compete with regular GCs, as the .1 mile rule on gc.com doesn’t come into play with the waymarks. Think of this a a site exclusively for ‘virtual caches’!
Good job and congratulations to the founder. A great category, I’m looking foreward to visiting some and maybe creating some.
Why didn’t they carry over the geocaching.com format to waymarking.com? Seems to me that it would make the transition easier for existing members and would probably result in greater usage.
