Somewhere about 8 inches here….
12/12/2010 at 7:28 pm #1940114Just spent 3+ hours shoveling our place and the neighbors. Snapped the blade off one shovel – dang rebated freebie from, um…. some place where you can save big money………………
Yabutt, great training for winter caching out der, up der, eh?
Maybe should get a machine for moving snow, or a fancy new GPS – hmmm…snowblower or GPS? ๐ That’s easy! Time to return the broken shovel for a new one, and check out the GPSr’s at The Man’s Mall!
๐12/12/2010 at 8:15 pm #1940115Took about 4 hours to clean out our shared driveway. I measured in 2 spots…17 inches and 23 inches! YIKES!! The drifts were up to 3 1/2 feet. Passed up some cheap snowblowers last spring. He who hesitates… ๐ก
12/12/2010 at 8:15 pm #1940116Qute a storm in the far western part of WI. I suppose we ended up with about 20″, but it’s hard to tell with all the wind we had. They closed I-94 from Hudson to Tomah last night at 6pm and was still closed this morning. (Probably open by now I imagine.) First time I recall that happening here.
Driveway is still drifted shut – until the plow lad gets here, I’m stuck shoveling steps and making cache containers. ๐ Those ground hides are gonna be pretty tough out here for awhile.
Oh yeah, and the Metrodome ceiling collapsed this morning about 5am too. Check the video on FOX – pretty amazing!
12/12/2010 at 8:38 pm #1940117See they moved the Vikings game to Detroit. Think they should have moved it to Green Bay, and played it in the snow, those wusses! ๐
12/12/2010 at 9:13 pm #1940118Lucky for me I didn’t have to shovel at all we got about 1/4 inch at most here in south side of Milwaukee. got to love it lol
12/12/2010 at 9:16 pm #1940119One good thing regarding the Vike’s game moving to Detroit was those of us in Vikingland got a chance to watch the Packers play on TV. Although, after watching the game, I’m not sure it was all that much of a good thing – yikes! ๐ Looks like the craphas is now in Detroit – their roof looked pretty sturdy, however.
12/12/2010 at 9:31 pm #1940120Packers lost and snowblower on order. That’s a lot of snow out there. Not leaving the house today at all! Good day to catch up. Wonder how our daughter will deal with the weather when she returns from college in Hawaii on Friday.

12/13/2010 at 12:50 am #1940121My 8 horses from the Simple City got quite the workout today. Today was only the second time ever that I ran the tank dry before finishing. Gotta love the durability of a classic design though and replacement parts for mine are the same parts that my dad’s 25+ year old model uses.
4.5 hours and from the looks of it another hour at least in the morning to clear the drifts. The good news is that the snowshoes are in the car and I’m ready to get caching.
12/13/2010 at 1:00 am #1940122Lets just say its way to much. I think some where between 8 to 12 with in certain spots ive ceen 6 foot drifts. And my 31 yr old ariens blower is in need of a little help just bought a new carb for it this fall and had the guy install and give a tune up. Then today I did the drive and one pass down the sidewalk and it crapped out its not getting enough gas.. I told Mrs. Sandman were buying a new blower its funny she thinks there like 3 hundred hahahaha if she only knew more like 6 or 7 hundred
12/13/2010 at 1:21 am #1940123I think the official snowfall at the NWS in LaCrosse was about 17 inches. I know there’s a lot of it out there! I can’t find anything specific to our town, but I think maybe it’s more than that. The weather patterns here are really variable as a result of the bluffs and coulees. We’re dug out, though. Three different times, actually.
12/13/2010 at 2:35 am #194012412/13/2010 at 2:39 am #1940125Cool. We got 19″ according to that site. Channel 9 out of Wausau had us at 21.2″. We were estimating about 18″, but it’s hard to tell with all the drifting. Let’s just say that it was quite a lot, and it was a pain to move around.
12/13/2010 at 4:30 am #1940126Reading this thread makes me feel for you guys. I was in the under an inch bracket, but it is sure cold tonight.
