You also forget the other end, NONE. That’s how many I intend to find. I have a hard enough time being social with 5 people, much less 500. Doesn’t sound like my idea of a good time, but that’s just me. Put me down for none, in any case.

    Ditto.

That’s cool too… Perhaps you’d like to help out the WGA by training newbies at the morning class or flipping pancakes Sunday morning? 😀

Heh, heh. Yeah, big crowds give me hives, but with so many people attending who’ve helped fill the back pages of my life the last few years, it’s going to be pretty easy times. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of people.

Hey, I wasn’t watching this thread but someone just brought it to my attention.

I wasn’t aware of the extent of the festivities since we had no intention of going to the Ba$h itself. Our family team is not into “power caching” (the topic of this thread) but many obviously are and more…power!…to them. It sounds like everyone had fun.

But now I am aware, so I have no excuse not to volunteer in some useful capacity next year. 😳

Yeah, helping out the “newbies” in the class was one of the most rewarding experiences of the weekend for me. It was great to re-group with them at the end of the day and learn that they were able to go out and find 16 of the event caches. They also learned that a garmin nuvi is not really a good geocaching unit (in the field).

I would definitely volunteer to do it again if asked.

I would have also volunteered for some of the other tasks like the breakfast but I wanted to attend with my family and forcing them to get up that early just wasn’t going to happen! 🙂

It’s amazing to see how many of those cachers found all 52 (53 minus the MIA water cache) caches. My family didn’t “power cache” but we did find way more as a family then we ever have before.

We spent Friday night with our grandchildren and a Mother with 2 kids from Ontario. We did the two downtown multis with them and were also accompanied by Tim of Blackbelts, Earth angel, Gr@nny and Niens. It was rewarding to help out someone who was toyally unfamiliar with the area. On Saturday we met several new geocaching families when doing the longer hike caches to the north. We offerred help and tips whenever needed. It was especially fun to see a few newer cachers trying to figure out what a letterbox/hybrid was as they looked in the wrong places. We didn’t let them look too long and then helped them out.

Just a follow-up to my initial post. The comment I made about not wanting to attend was directed at the MEGA status and the potential to be in the midst of 500 other cachers. It was not about the intention of attendees to try for 50 or 75 finds which is certainly commendable.

Personally, I cannot think of any better sport for those of you who can get your families out, together, to do something that you all enjoy! Indeed, that’s probably THE SINGLE BIGGEST argument I use to get newbies into the sport and I try very hard to place cachers that both parents and children will remember. I hope everyone had a great time and came back with untold memories of caching with the kids at Cache Ba$h 2009!
