But don’t assume I will fix your P/G cache. It’s kinda like holding the remote, and asking you to get up and change the channel for me!
HA!
On the Left Side of the Road...03/24/2012 at 2:19 am #1958433Mind you, I don’t mind power trails, if I’m in the mood. I dislike unmaintained caches!
03/24/2012 at 4:56 am #1958434PNG’s are great for people who can’t walk far.
Though I agree not every lamp post skirt, guardrail or signposts need a cache. If one is gonna put out a PNG, make it a reason why. Is there a historical marker nearby? Is there a nice sculpture nearby?
I have a few P & G’s with 3 of them at a local scenic park and one at a boat launch playing on the story of an archived cache that was an ALR.
Edit: This is the boat launch cache I was referring to – GC2T7JY . It is just a simple film can hide, but as you can see from the logs, I had some nice comments on it as the hide was somewhat creative for a film can hide.
03/24/2012 at 4:56 am #1958435Aren’t all caches park & grabs, unless you have walked from your house to get the. Your park, walk a mile or so and then you grab it. No?
Hmmmmmmm…….that gives me an idea……. 😈03/24/2012 at 11:26 am #1958436While P & G’s aren’t my favorite 🙁 , they come in handy after a long day in the Kettle Moraine 🙄 , or a rainy day perhaps 😥 , and I choose to do them early a.m., and usually on weekends, when there is less traffic. Have replaced or picked up the second container myself on occasion, my only problem is with the ones placed right in front of someones house, etc. they go on the ignore list. 😡
03/24/2012 at 11:42 am #1958437I dislike PNG’s in front of someone’s house – especially if that someone has no idea about geocaching. Got shooed away by a homeowner once. I never went back.
03/24/2012 at 3:50 pm #1958438just got yelled at by my wife ladybug and was told to let everyone know she loves PnGs. 🙄 i pull up and she jumps out and gets them.

don’t forget to water it
03/24/2012 at 4:44 pm #1958442There are other hiders in West Bend area who have put out quality hides and PNG’s too. I know which cache owner you are referring to in this post. That CO has also done many, many fun and quality hides. I agree, if you don’t like them, don’t do them. These CO have hidden and given a lot back to the geocaching community over the years with their time in many ways. Why not e-mail the CO and tell them about it personally rather than posting here? 😯 It makes it sound like West Bend is nothing but crummy hides and that is far from the truth. 🙁 The cache bash committee has plenty of locations to hide in years to come, these do not deter anything away from that which I think is part of the CO intent. Just be glad there are some folks who are willing to spend their time, money and efforts to put stuff out there for YOU to find. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. If you read the descriptions, these are part of several big series of word caches taken from the letters on the signs – relating to a final puzzle. These are not my favorites, but I can see how they can be nice on a day when I am sore and can’t hike or for others who like to increase their numbers. I do agree about not maintaining them however, and I only try to put out as many as I can resonably take care of – I don’t think it is fair to ask another cacher to take care of your stuff.
03/24/2012 at 5:09 pm #1958443Everyone’s opinions will vary on this topic. Here’s a “will attend” log from a well known Illinois geocaching team with over 10K finds for this year’s Ca$h Bash. G.O. Johnand Carol
Will Attend03/24/2012Yikes! I don’t think we logged our “will attend” yet! Carol and wouldn’t miss it! Hands down our favorite caching destination
03/24/2012 at 5:17 pm #1958444LDove you might have misunderstood. when you look back i wasnt talking about series caches or dead end caches. i guess its hard to explain without actually showing you one. but i will not take a picture of a cache or it location to spoil the hunt. its the ones that you see and say now why would they use that container when you know its going to get soaked and fall apart then its its tosed on a fire hydrant. the ones that are on busy hwy where cars are driving 55mph and you have to hope your not hit by a car trying to get it.i did say something and was told they will just arcive and disable it then.

lol. i mean hid
03/24/2012 at 8:08 pm #1958446I love almost all caches (except for puzzles I can’t solve) including P&Gs. P&Gs seem worthless in spring when the weather is perfect, the bugs are minimal and the brush isn’t as thick. Come July or August, P&Gs can be the way to go, 30 seconds out of the A/C at a time, not having to wear thick pants in a marsh when its 95F out, etc. I also like to get many of these by bike, even if you can’t legally park a car it’s usually reasonably safe by bicycle. If you are going to be the geocaching capital of the world, you’ve got to have both quanity and quality, cater to every cacher out there. Sometimes you just want that special cache and spend a day going for it, sometimes you want to knock a bunch out for stats. There are some power runs out there that’ll give West Bend a run at that P&G title.
