We’ve done it! We’ve successfully gotten the whole paperless thing to work out and are set to take the new toy on vacation!
I’ve did some pocket queries and loaded them up to the palm. I realized I forgot to include one in my upload. Can I just upload that one to the palm? GeocachingU made it sound like I should do ALL of them together again.
Also…We’ve heard others talk about doing a PQ for caches so far off of roads along a route. I couldn’t see a simple way to do that without doing a bunch. Did I miss something?
THIS IS GOING TO BE COOL!!!!!!!!

You can upload seperate gpx files into your PDA- i.e. if you want to add one (or 10, 300, etc) they will need to be spun as an new individual file and plucked as a new channel. For instance, I commonly spin and pluck seperate pq’s for the SE WI, Central WI, and Illinois. It’s handy when traveling as I then have seperate files to work from within the PDA. Not too convienient for adding only one waypoint, but next time you won’t forget that one anyway.
As for following a route, the easiest method is to use GSAK’s arc/line filter. You will need pq’s of all areas along the route. (You can open multiple pq’s in one GSAK database). Then you basically create a line between two or more waypoints that are known to be on the route. Then use GSAK’s filter settings to filter out all caches that are outside “X” many miles from the line you created.
The instructions are better than most programs- http://gsak.net/help/hs4025.htm

06/07/2005 at 3:50 am #1740611Congrats you two and welcome to the other side! So, what did you end up getting? Be careful though, that palm will become habit forming! Don’t forget to put games on there so when you’re not caching and not driving you’ll have something to do other than watch the road signs go by.
Be careful on your trip!MajorBrat

Any good ones you recommend?
Websites for games you recommend?A side note … You think in the future, that someone will come up with a geocaching game? Either computer, old fashioned board game, etc. That would be interesting .. but who knows as this thing grows! Would be weird playing a game that’s about a game.
