During the campaign for WGA Board members, I asked this question…
http://www.wi-geocaching.com/forums/topic/one-big-happy-family/
While I know that breaking into a new forum can take a bit of time, I would challenge all the Board members and any others out there lurking to try taking an active part in *these* forums. The Squirrel puts in time trying to maintain the website, a good part of the organizational budget goes to paying for web hosting…..let’s make use of it. It will take time, but as people stop and think about things they’re posting in the many regional facebook forums, it’s a simple matter to cut, paste and ask those questions or share that information here, too.
If y’all are sick of seeing posts from sandlanders, beccaday and myself, take action! 😉
Not all of us have or want to visit multiple facebook sites to stay informed. Help make this the one stop shopping site for all things geocaching in Wisconsin.

02/17/2015 at 4:20 pm #2035768Well, that would include quite a few of us, Mr. G. We’re excused.
02/17/2015 at 5:01 pm #2035769There was a time…
When group adventures were initiated and planned in the WGA forums. Those of us who didn’t go could still enjoy watching the planning and reading about all that went on during the outings. Anyone from around the state who frequented the WGA forums knew about these group caching adventures and could join in. Remember the visits to “Eagle Source”, “Marsh to the Philippines”, and “Mawikwe Sea Caves” (from the trail above)? I didn’t go on any of those, but I could feel like I was there.
There was a time…
When cachers came to the WGA forums for ideas of neat caches to look for along the way on trips that they were taking with their families. Not only would people ask for ideas for those trips or even ones just around the state, but there were plenty of ANSWERS! The WGA was just that… for all of Wisconsin. Heading to Milwaukee or Up North or to the Eau Claire area or anywhere… What are some good things to see from those of you who live there?
There was at time…
When cachers asked for help in making up cache pages or trying out ideas or some of the technology involved…. How to write html code or upload images or use GSAK. Newer cachers asked for and got answers in these forums. More experienced cachers would share what they had learned or asked about things they had forgotten. Even if you didn’t know where to look for answers and thought you might look silly asking something basic, there would be someone to point you in the right direction.
There was a time…
When we all would celebrate what was good about Wisconsin geocaching, who reached milestones (big or small), what were some of the neat caches that we could nominate for Cache of the Month. We got to know who other cachers around the state were, and not just those who became good friends in the Thread Stealers. We would reach out to others, and we didn’t care where they were from. All we cared about was that they liked geocaching, and that they especially liked Wisconsin caching!
There was a time…
When the sum of all parts was greater than the whole. Now there is not even the sum of all parts… just a bunch of parts. Read the mission statement on the home page of this wonderful new website (The Squirrel is pictured there). The WGA is home to all Wisconsin cachers (and friends). It’s one-stop shopping. It’s so much friendlier than the Groundspeak forums, and Wisconsin hasn’t felt the need to split its organization into smaller groupings as other states have.
We have a snazzy new website here. Unlike the Book of Faces, this website doesn’t decide which posts you get to see and which you don’t. There are no ads, and the bots and purveyors of odd products are kept at bay. No one will unfriend you here, and it is a Kardashian-free zone. If you are a lurker, keep on coming back. At some point you will find something that gets you posting. If you are a regular, I’m preaching to the choir, but it’s a great-sounding choir! If you are a BOD member, use your position to lead and provide for a better experience for all Wisconsin geocachers (and friends).

Phew! Glad I wasn’t included in that bunch.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
