Since John Sudar shared this on FB 🙂 Figured this would be a good place to also include it with the new coins that have showed up over time.

08/01/2021 at 4:53 pm #2068797Hello
I am Ron@gmai (rpapaman) a geocacher since 2004 and I would love to get one of your 2020 “Moo-niquely” Wisconsin geocoins! Could you reply to me at http://[email protected] to let me know if I could purchase one of these coins!
Thank You

Hi Ron, email sent.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
08/07/2022 at 6:51 pm #2070543I’m posting this to see if anyone else is having the same issue with their WGA 20th Anniversary coin.
First off, I must say it is a very nice design. As I opened it and inspected it, I was confused as to where to find the tracking code. I was doing this in the dim morning light of a cloudy sky. At least a minute of turning and spinning the coin took place before I finally caught a glimpse of some faint lettering that resembled a tracking code. I looked closely at the code and even took a picture with my phone to see if that could help zoom in on it. I jotted that sequence of letters and numbers down and then looked for the activation code on the coin’s packaging. To my dismay, I could not find an activation code either, but I did find a message on the packaging instructing me to visit the oak coins website to activate it. After I enter my tracking code on the activation page of oak coin’s website, I get a message telling me that the code does not exist in the database.
Can anyone help? I just want to register our coin. We don’t normally share our coins with others to log. So not being able to see the tracking code well in order for that to happen is basically a non-issue. Is there a general activation code available for this WGA coin, like one normally gets along with the purchase of a trackable? Thank you for any help!
08/07/2022 at 8:34 pm #2070544It took me a while to spot the # on the coin! I used a magnifying glass but still was unsure if it was a ‘1’ or an ‘I’. Try OAKCOINS to activate. It is tied to your e-mail and GC account, anyway.
08/08/2022 at 9:03 am #2070548Yeah, I had the same issue. I felt this hide should have been at least a D3 and maybe more, with an attribute of “flashlight required” 🙂 But I finally got it activated. You can also retrieve the activation code if you have the tracking number, but OAKCOINS worked for me on this one too.
08/26/2022 at 8:50 am #2070717Russ, I’m sorry, I’m just seeing this. Were you able to activate your coin?
Please note: my comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.
08/26/2022 at 9:37 am #2070718Greetings,
I apologize. We didn’t see the issue until just before West Bend Cache Ba$h after receiving the coins. We tried hard explaining to people that bought coins from us that outdoor light or inside bright light was required to see the tracking codes. The activation code is “OAKCOINS”.
If you have a problem activating your coin please let us know either by responding to this post, or emailing [email protected]
Thanks,
Jason -
