Is there some setting I can turn off or on to keep the unread forum posts from being marked read when I leave the forums?

04/08/2010 at 5:16 pm #1927028I don’t understand. The only ways to make a forum thread appear “read” are to either open the thread or hit the “mark all topics as read” link. If you don’t open the topic, it will stay unread. Note that this doesn’t consider pages, so if you don’t finish reading a topic, it will still indicate that it is read.

It appears on my system that if I got to the forums, read one thread, then leave the site, all the rest of the threads are marked as read. Apparently, my computer is special in this way.
04/08/2010 at 7:28 pm #1927030do you have a plugin or software that precaches links for you? I used to have software that would follow all the links on a page and cache them so it would instantly displayed when i clicked on them.
04/08/2010 at 7:30 pm #1927031Not that I know of. Looks like I will be doing some digging tonite.
04/08/2010 at 8:38 pm #1927032SammyClaws, this happens to me as well. If I don’t have time to read each of the forums, and I log off, when I log back on, I have to remember what I haven’t read. I tried it again to see if it was true all the time. Lots of new posts today, but I logged off right after reading this forum, and logged back on. All the forums were then white, not colored in like when they have the new posts. Even though I hadn’t read them, it changes color as if I did. I just figured that’s the way it is.
04/09/2010 at 1:30 am #1927033I just hit the “View posts since last visit” button.

Thanks, I am glad I am not the only one that is having this happen. I thought I was going crazy.
