How about “American Robin”?
I like the coin with the robin and the violets on it.
Here’s another suggestion if you want more – how about a pine cone?

I don’t want to assume its nationality.
08/22/2005 at 8:17 am #1744422Hi Guys!
I have family in WI that I’ll be visiting in the next month and a half or so, and tripped across this.
I can’t wait for the geocoin – and am enjoying watching this develop.
Are you considering that there are a couple coin buying groups out there that will want to buy alot of these (I belong to a group – COin Order Liason aka COOL that gets about 50 at a time for about 15-20 members)? Just something to keep in mind.
You’re welcome to email me or redwing_dave when you’re ready to go.
Thanks!

08/22/2005 at 2:29 pm #1744423Yea, we’re allready aware of the buying groups. With these we could presell over 200 with just these groups right away. I know NurseDave has a group and I believe they buy like 120 in 1 sell, And I believe the COOL group does like 30??

“Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires”08/22/2005 at 8:37 pm #1744424I was very excited to stumble on this thread after using the search feature on the boards. After reading through, the one suggestion I wanted to add was to think about preordering. I’ve seen a few states that basically have people pay for the coins up front, and once they hit their limit that they need, they order them and ship them out. This minimizes risk of the initial order.
08/24/2005 at 2:44 am #1744425And there is a Bay Area coin group that will buy around 60.

08/25/2005 at 3:06 pm #1744426I like the idea of the coins being trackable, but Nurse Dave has a good point. If Geocachers are going to keep the coins once they find them, there is no use to tracking them.
I’m amazed at how much $$$ Groundspeak wants to make them trackable. I can see charging a one time fee, since someone will have to write the code for our coins and bandwidth concerns. $1.50 per coin seems pretty steep.
I’d like to be able to track them, but the initial outlay of $2000+ dollars is hard to swallow.

08/25/2005 at 11:47 pm #1744429We agree with Grousetales
How about a design without GC.com tracking in mind? All of your designs were alot of hard work. We appreciate you doing this all, but you need to think about what if you can’t meet the demands of GC.com. Most of the geocoins are being bought for their beauty, color and detail. The most sought after ones turn out to be not GC trackable.
For example:Indiana, Washington, Alaska, North Carolina, Utah, Georgia, California, Dallas Fort Worth, NW Pennsylvania
They are detailed, colorful and plain awesome and NOT GC.com trackable.
Please don’t make this end up like Kansas. Where they couldn’t meet the quota needed for GC tracking and dropped the project.
Open you mind…PLEASE!

Proud Member of the WCRCIf we can’t meet the GC.com requirements or this cost to much I will remove the GC.com tracking from the coin. I’m not dead set on GC.com tracking. I’m just trying my best to get it with all the rest of the features.
09/01/2005 at 2:55 pm #1744432Yep as NurseDave said the GBA coin club would gladly buy 65 coins.
09/13/2005 at 1:25 am #1744433I would be interested in 5
