At a recent meeting in Madison with the Director of State Parks, the WGA extended an olive branch and invited DNR officals to our picnic.
While the Director herself is unable to attend, the S/E Regional Director of Parks may be there.
Some of the DNR’s main concerns about geocaching are burying caches and volunteer trails.
When placing your temp caches, keep in mind that the DNR may be at the picnic. Try to avoid areas that may be damaged or trampled by foot traffic.
I think it would look bad if they witnessed areas of vegitation being plowed over with a trail leading to the cache.
We will keep you updated whether they accept or invitation or not, but for now, lets play it safe.
