WGA map

Just wondering who maintains the map, and if it would be possible to add the (GCXXXX) to the identifier. I sometimes use the map to look for caches if I’m travling through or to a pitcular area. When doing this I usually just jot the info on a peice of paper, and look them up on GC.com later for manual downloading.

I think you may be referring to the map link -Wi Geocaching Map – found on the opening page of Wi-geocaching.com site. The map comes from http://www.brillig.com. The site is called Buxley’s Geocaching Waypoints. There hvae been no new updates since 27-Mar. More info can be found here: http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/news.shtml. Hope this helps.

Actually, the link was changed many months ago when Brillig and Groundspeak had their falling out. The link will currently take you to the groundspeak map and it is current. if you click on the “identify” button it will tell you what’s what. It doesn’t give the GCxxxx but will give a link to the cache page under the map.

I would like to add that the Google Earth Software works wonders also. Many times I am traveling to other parts of the state and I will use Google Earth to see what is available on the roads I travle on.

And…..just wait…..

When we were at Groundspeak, Raine showed us the new mapping feature that will be available very soon on gc.com. It was using Google and was a really awesome way to look at an area, see all the cache points, and a list of the caches (that all were linked to the cache pages itself). It also allowed you to ‘pan’ the map much easier than currently available.

He had one computer bug to work out, but he hoped this new mapping feature would be available “soon.”
