Over the past few months we have been working on incorporating the Geocaching.com Live api into the WGA website. This allows us to access and display certain information from the geocacching.com website. While the possibilities are endless, we’ve started small and will build in more features over time. Currently, the only areas that we are using this are in the Cache of the Month module, and to load information for the Lonely Cache Game.
If you want to take advantage of any of the new features, you will need to authorize the WGA website to access information on your behalf. We do not store your password or any other information during the process other than an authorization “code”. It’s the same process as used by apps on smart phones. You can complete the authorization by clicking here, or selecting “GCOAuth” from the Modules menu at the top of the page.
Future plans include showing size, type and D/T ratings for many of the cache names and numbers listed on this website, as well as a major overhaul of the statistics module.
If you choose not to go through the authorization process, the WGA website will still function the same way it does now. Also not that non-premium members will be limited in what information we can make available.01/15/2013 at 5:54 pm #1967239@Team Black-Cat wrote:

Clicking on the link doesn’t work – it states it’s a restricted area. The Modules menu worked just fine, thanks!
01/15/2013 at 7:09 pm #1967240Hmmm…I have it set to be accessable by “registered users” and I’m pretty sure you are one.
The only difference between the two links (the one in my post and the menu) is a missing “www.” I changed it in my first post, so hopefully noone else gets sent to a “restricted” area.
Thanks for pointing out the issue.01/15/2013 at 7:35 pm #1967241I clicked on the link, and everything seemed to work just fine for me. I’m not sure what to do now, but it worked.
01/15/2013 at 7:42 pm #1967242If you go to the cache of the month, you should notice a small difference. Not Earth shaking, but it’s a start. Learning to walk before we try to run.

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to imply anything. I’m just kinda of a techno dummy when it comes to stuff like this is all.

I wasn’t implying that you were implying anything. I just wanted to point out what could easily be missed.01/16/2013 at 3:49 am #1967245It worked for me and I see the difference in the COTM page. 🙂

01/21/2013 at 1:32 am #1967246I like the update. Voting for COTM is now much easier. Thanks for all the hard work TBC
