The WGA has scheduled a 5th CITO this year, this time at Gibraltar Rock. The event will be Saturday, July 31 at Gibraltar Rock, one of Wisconsin’s natural wonders and a SNA. Gibraltrar Rock is between Merrimac and Lodi. This is going to be a very special CITO, co-hosted by the Friends of Gibraltrar. They have arranged for a pot-luck lunch and for a WI DNR naturalist to share information on the geology of the bluff.

Please see GC2AR5D for details and to sign up to help clean up Gibraltrar Rock.

Also, dont forget our other upcoming CITO event up north in Barnes. That one is a breakfast event and is co-hosted by the Barnes Babes See GC2ADTE for details of that event.

Hope to see you all there at one of our upcoming CITOs.

Just an update on the of the progress on the Board’s efforts to hold 6 CITO events this year:

Before I get to the announcement of our 6th CITO scheduled, I first of all, need to send out a big thank you to all of the folks who have helped out this year in developing our CITOs. I personally believe that holding regional CITO events fits well with the mission of the WGA, and is something that we need to continue to do more often to help grow the association.

As a reminder, here are the ones we already held, and the folks who did a lot of the work planning the event, to who thanks is owed:

April 17: Highway 10. Thanks to k0rpl and Greyhounder.

April 17: Harrington Beach. Thanks to EnergySaver.

April 24: Appleton. Thanks to Cheeto.

July 31: Gibraltar Rock. Thanks to barnumandbailey and Lions Fan.

August 7: Barnes. Thanks to Milesfromnowhere, Cache Bott, GramaCindy and Loony Lori.

Thanks to all who helped plan these events. Many hands make light work, and the efforts of all are appreciated. Also, we reallly appreciate the many folks who have atttended and helped to pick up trash. Even picking up a little trash helps, and if many people pick up a little trash, a lot of clean up can take place.

Our 6th CITO has been scheduled, and cheeto and Sandlanders are the members taking the lead in getting this one going. It is scheduled for Saturday, September 18th, 2010, on the morning of our annual Picnic. The CITO will be held at Burt Morris Park in the City of Adams. See GC2CWF5 for details.

As a special bonus, this year’s WGA Picnic will include a “Busy Day” Challenge, and it will be possible to earn up to 10 icons, since we will have a WhereIGo ready to go also, in addition to the event, the CITO and the caches already available in the park.

Also please note that the board will be discussing having a few more than our target number of 6 CITOs this year, and will likely be scheduling more CITOs this fall, hoping to exceed our goal of sponsoring 6 CITOs this year. People interested in helping hosting a CITO in their area may PM me.
