I am not very technical when it comes to computers. I suspect this is an easy fix…
The WGA site no longer fits on my computer screen; I have to use the scroll bars to move the pages over to read everything. I have tried maximizing the window, but that doesn’t do it.
It doesn’t matter if I am on the home page, forums, private messages, LCG…every page is this way.
It only happened recently, and I didn’t change any settings on my computer (knowingly). What do I need to do to get it to fit?
Is everything bigger than normal? The magnification might be over 100%. You can see that on the right side of the bottom bar in IE, or from the view menu you can select zoom.
Try holding your finger on the Ctrl button while scrolling the wheel on your mouse until things look better.
What browser are you using?
Nothing should have changed on the WGA site recently that would have caused this, and the WGA site should still look OK (no side to side scrolling) even in an 800 pixel wide browser window.
I agree with the previous two posters… either you have increased the magnification / zoom level or increased the default text size. Miata’s tip should fix this in both IE and Firefox.
I am using Internet Explorer. My magnification has not changed; it is still 100%. I did the Ctrl/scroll thing, and it worked to make it fit the screen, but it made everything smaller. My magnification was at 100% when it fit, so that doesn’t seem to be the issue. Your suggestions worked, just didn’t do what I need it to.
It is a very minor thing, having to scroll left and right. Just a little annoyance I was hoping was easy to fix. But not a crisis if I can’t. Thanks just the same! 🙂
You could try the webpage in a different web browser(firefox, google Chrome, Safari, Opera). See if it’s just a IE issue or if something has changed on your PC.
Your PC may be running a very low screen resolution, you could try setting it to something higher & see if that gets things looking more correctly.I was thinking she may have slipped into a lower resolution too, but when I switched to 800 X 600 my Firefox browser still fit the screen. That is the lowest resolution my computer will go using the correct drivers.
A generic video driver might give a much lower resolution, but since it was looking right until a few days ago I have to doubt that thought too.
Do you have to scroll on every page? I noticed the other day when I posted a picture of the Burger King that were very wide that I had to scroll sideways. I think that only effected the pages of that one thread where the pictures were posted.
I checked my screen resolution. It is 800 x 600. I changed it to the next size, I believe it was 1024 x 768. That made everything smaller. Too small, so I went back to the 800/600.
IE is what came with the computer. Where does one get another browser? Is that something you download or software you purchase, or something else?
And actually, I think it is just a Halloween ghost, because my e-mail webpage suddenly got smaller print just today. 😕 I thought maybe I was accidentally clicking on something, but in order to restore it I had to go a through a number of steps, including Confirm Page Changes, so I don’t think I just hit the mouse over the wrong place. No one else uses this computer.
I can see the Burger King photo just fine, and always could. Today some of the pages are fine, but others are wide. Since the problem came up on its own, I as a low-tech person, am hopeful it will correct itself! And I really am grateful it is not a serious issue anyway.
I use Firefox. I will not ever use IE again.

And make sure your antivirus is up to date. Sounds like something’s messing with your computer.

I had used IE and switched to Firefox. After about a year with Firefox, I switched back to IE. Each has it’s own strengths and weaknesses. I found IE is better for me.@miata wrote:

Page 1121 with the Teletubbies in the off topic thread I needed to scroll to see everything. How would things look with the 1024 X 768 resolution, but with the press Ctrl and scroll the mouse wheel trick?
I don’t think switching to Mozilla Firefox would do anything but confuse you, but I only use Microsoft Internet Explorer when I absolutely can’t get a page or form to work right with Firefox. The newest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer copied (swiped) 🙄 Firefox’s tabbed browsing and private browsing very well.
Primary: Safari – even with zooming in, no need to scroll at all or much
Next: Mozilla/Foxfire – do not use at all
Next: Opera, no apparent problem
Next: IE, only in an emergency.
Today I went to the library and opened up WGA site using both IE and Mozilla Firefox. I had no problems viewing from either browser. I suspect it is just my computer, or its user 😆
so with all these choices for browsers, is anyone using Google Chrome?
