I have always wondered what others do with their non-caching time.
Speaking for myself I enjoy biking of the pedal variety and have about 1100 miles so far this year.
Kayaking is quickly becoming a secondary activity since picking up a pair of starter kayaks this year.
Traveling is another activity. So far this year the separate major trips have been Mexico, New England, Missouri and the first big bike trip of the year on the Fox River Trail in Illinois.
Family of course takes up a lot of free time and is even better then all the other activities. If you can combine them, its even better.Anyone else care to share?
07/27/2004 at 1:23 am #1747391What else do we do? We are both into amateur astronomy so we do a lot with telescopes and educating the community to the wonders of the heavens above. I like to design and build them, AstroKat likes to use and abuse them. Both of us serve on the board of directors of our local astronomy club. When not doing that or working (sorry for the profanity) we are raising a 5(almost 6) year old. He likes caching only some of the time.
We have begun assimilating various other astronomy club members into the geocaching realm. Three other couples have started going out on their own now after we have shown them the ropes and we have also turned on the daughter of another club member.
It helps though that somebody donated a GPS unit to the club. People wonder “what can I do with this thing besides see where I am”? When they ask this, we know we have another GeoVictim.
We have a cache series idea in the works so stay tuned for more soon.

07/27/2004 at 1:57 am #1747392when i’m not at that four letter word w*rk, I have two children I am helping raise, although my wife does more of it than me. I have spent the last ten years remodeling and fixing my house. I have remodeled all but the kitchen on the first floor and built a second floor, updated most of the mechanicals, and have redone most of the outside.(only sofit, facia, and wrapping the windows left.) my wife thinks i’m nuts for not hiring any contractors, but I have been able to do a lot with a lot less money that way. I also enjoy hunting and shooting sports. I spend a good portion of my vacation on hunting and taking my children with me as much as possible. I also try to get in some fishing here and there. and somewhere in there I help take care of things for my grandmother (POA).
07/27/2004 at 3:33 am #1747393GREAT THREAD!!
Mrs. Rubeeslpr is a retired kindergarten teacher who now works full time as a Group Specialist Travel Agent. She travels a lot, and loves to read when she is not geocaching.
Mr. Rubeeslpr is a senior software engineer, and enjoys biking, gardening, and time on the computer when he is not geocaching.

Fun thread!
When Papa Fishcacher isn’t w*rking, he reads and plays computer games and reads more.
Mama Fishcacher w*rks part-time, does everything around the house, and when there’s downtime, she likes to garden, read, and do jigsaw puzzles and word puzzle books. On occasion, she has been known to partake in cross stitching.
Little Fishcacher is going to be in 2nd grade this fall. He loves to play baseball, swim, ride his scooter, and play video games. He also keeps trying to elude his mom as she chases him, trying to get him to read over the summer break! 😉
07/28/2004 at 6:33 pm #1747395Professor loves to read…he reads at home, he reads at work and he reads in the car while traveling.
Duelist loves to play Diablo on the computer.
He loves Yu-gi-oh. He just got his orange belt in Tae Kwon do.
Princess loves to play dress-up. She loves to play with her cinderalla toys.
Both Duelist & Princess are taking swimming lessons and both will be in a kids triathlon August 20th in Waupaca. They are active with the church’s choir and enjoy marching in all of the parade’s year-round in West Bend.
Earth Angel loves to play scrabble. Loves to visit her dad’s lake home with the kids where they swim, fish, and paddleboat. We all enjoying spending time with family and extended family members. Enjoy camping, hiking, biking, swimming.07/28/2004 at 10:16 pm #1747396quote:

Well, there’s work of course…
I sing tenor in the choir at church (St. Anthony on the Lake in Pewaukee) and also cantor…
I’m a den leader for my son’s Webelos den (Pack 294 in Hartland)
I’m a “cheer dad” for my daughter’s varsity cheeerleading team at Arrowhead
I spend way too much time online, particularly at eBay… 😉
Woodworking, bicycling, camping, hiking, motorcycling, the list goes on… too many activities – too few hours in life!

That sounds like way too much work for just you, Ray. What you need is an assistant (besides Trudy) to go out on field assignments. *hint-hint*

It looks like You are the one who needs help… There are 108 DQ’s within 50 miles of Silver Lake
08/01/2004 at 11:29 am #1747401There are only 33 DQ’s within 50 miles of Janesville; one at 145 Sundae Dr, Rockford, IL…. been there
08/01/2004 at 2:23 pm #1747402I have only visited 32 of the ones closest to Janesville – wonder where that other one has been hiding.
Chili Cheese Dogs at the DQ are usually part of my caching day.

Building/planning design..
Carpentry…
Insulating..
Plumbing…
Electrical..
Cement work…
drywalling…
Painting/staining..
Deck building..coming soon:
tile installing..
trimwork..
carpet installing..Hmmm.. I’m still working on my new home improvement.. (had my home lifted up and added a lower level master bedroom suite consisting of 5 rooms and a 2 story foyer) Now at the drywall/mudding stage.. in the last few weeks I’ve put in 10-15 hr days trying to complete the mudding/sanding.. I’ve went through 240 pounds of mud so far.. had help putting up over 100 sheets of drywall in the last few months.. used over 900 feet of tape.. over 30 pounds of drywall screws.. about 700 ft of corner bead..
It’s been 11 months since I had started this project.. I’ve had my hand and heart into each and every step.. I was lucky to find a carpenter last fall that started turning my dream into a reality.. he/I put up the outside walls and foyer within two months.. after he left/finished I took over all the other tasks of completion..
Hopefully I’ll be done by fall where I’ll be able to get my head back into geocaching more and perhaps have a chance to geo-trek upnorth before hunting season..
