Both Delorme challenges, 72 county challenge, Shawano WSQ challenge, WI Virtual challenge, Rustic Road Challenge and a Route 66 one.
08/24/2015 at 10:26 pm #2042381We already have many of the classic challenge caches completed, but it seems there’s always more challenges out there that we’re working on. Our public profile page at geocaching .com lists 57 challenges we have completed, and 13 more we are still working on. Here’s a cut-and-paste of the challenges we’re still working on:
– A CACHE A DAY … FOR 365 DAYS? (GC1AG09) – Find a cache a day for 365 consecutive days (we’ve done 377 consecutive but need to go to Minneapolis to get this challenge cache)
- THE 15% CHALLENGE (GC2NFB2) – You must have found a minimum of 500 caches, 15% or more must be non-traditionals (We qualify for this cache, currently at 21%+, and need to go to northern Illinois to get it)
- BADGER STATE CHALLENGE (GC15WT3) – Find a cache in all 72 of Wisconsin’s counties (We recently completed the requirements, now we have to go to central WI to get the cache!)
- WISCONSIN FALLING WATER CHALLENGE (GC1XKGZ) – Find 26 Wisconsin waterfall caches
- ALPHANUMERIC NON-TRADITIONAL CACHE CHALLENGE (GC3GEA0) – Find NON-TRADITIONAL caches that begin with each of the 36 alphanumeric characters A-Z and 0-9 (We still need X)
- WISCONSIN VIRTUAL CHALLENGE (GC2T5CD) – Find all 86 virtual caches in Wisconsin
- WISCONSIN’S CHEESY FOUR CORNERS CHALLENGE (GC239VH) – Find five caches, one at the exact geographic center of our state, and one at each of the four corners.
- WISCONSIN DELORME CHALLENGE (GCXPZR & GC2C21G) – Find a cache from all 104 pages of the Wisconsin DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer (only 3 more pages to go!)
- DELORME CHALLENGE: UNIQUE NATURAL FEATURES (GC1JMFG) – Find caches in at least 20 of the 37 Unique Natural Features listed in the 2008 Wisconsin DeLorme Atlas (Found 24 so far)
- WISCONSIN CLASSIC ROCKS, HIKES & HIDES CHALLENGE (GC2D6N8) Find 27 Wisconsin caches placed in 2000 or 2001 (Found 19, we have 8 more to go)
- KFH’S ABDCS: FAVORITES (GC3NAJ3) – Find the 13 caches in WI currently with the most favorite points
- CHEESY WELL-ROUNDED SOCIALITE CHALLENGE (GC5Q9MC) – Must have attended at least one event for each day of the week, and each month, with at least three different event icons (We only need one more – an event on a Monday!)
- WISCONSIN’S PLAYLANDS: STATE LANDS BINGO CHALLENGE (GC3BRE4) – Must complete a BINGO row of 5 regarding Wisconsin’s state parks, state trails, and/or state forests (We have a bingo and need to go to the Lacrosse area to get it)08/25/2015 at 8:18 pm #20423964 more earthcaches will get me to the Platinum master badge (20 total finds). Then it is on to the Discovery Awards.
The best sig is no sig.
04/12/2016 at 9:40 pm #2048741I just checked and I have 243 EarthCache finds. So 7 more to go and I’ll be at the Garnet Discovery Award. Hmmm….where should I go to finish those off?
Since my first post in this thread I have finished finding a cache in every WI county but have yet to find the challenge cache to commemorate the occasion.
I have only one more spot to fill on my Jasmer challenge, not sure how that will be accomplished yet.
I finished the WGA State Parks Series. Hooray!
I signed the log on the Delorme Challenge so now I really should finish that one off. I don’t have TOO many pages left to go. I really like the idea of hunting down waterfalls, although I doubt I will attack that one with such fervor as I did the SPS. I also like the classic caches, might work on that one.

04/13/2016 at 9:28 am #2048753Life remains the same for us…cache less but explore more. We are looking forward to our Yellowstone/Devils Tower trip in the fall….hike, hike and hike some more! The only remaining goals are to finish Minnesota’s virtuals and the historic cache challenge. Very close on both, but a couple of the virts are virtually unapproachable for the foreseeable future.
04/13/2016 at 9:33 am #2048754The historic challenge cache is GC1JA35…..I think I retained all the characters in short term memory. Two left. One is in northern Minnesota, so it would depend.
Becca, I highly recommend Marinette County waterfalls in early October. Worth chasing, still one of my favorite trips.p

My kids did the Jr. Rangers program at Devil’s Tower (of course) and one of the questions asked about what the trees smell like. So while you’re there, take a whiff of the bark and think about what it smells like. 🙂

Interesting, I have only found 2 of the caches on that list so far. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I cross the river.
Thanks for the tip on the waterfalls, I will look into that. We visited a few up there the year that the WGA picnic was at Thompson, I’d love to see more! In fact, Mr. Greenthumb talked about hosting an event/waterfall tour when we were visiting in the campground that weekend. I’m still waiting for that event Mr. G! 😉

07/19/2016 at 8:28 pm #2050839Great question 🙂 my husband and I are trying to finish the US map! So our current goal is to add 3 states every year. We drive out to Montana every year to see Mrs Zeeman’s parents who live there…so we alter our route each year! This year we are adding Iowa and Nebraska…so one more to go 🙂

09/16/2016 at 12:49 pm #2051584Now that this summer we’ve completed the challenge caches we were working on for several years, I looked at what’s out there and came up with three new challenge caches for us to pursue. These may take a while!
GC3X7BK Wisconsin Population Center Challenge – Find 3 unique icons within city limits of the top 11 cities in Wisconsin: Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha, Racine, Appleton, Waukesha, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, Janesville, & West Allis. (We’ve found mostly traditiona…l & mystery caches in most but not all of these cities, but have a long way to go to have three icons in all 11 cities)
GC3WMX0 WI Public Land Lover’s Challenge – Find a cache in at least 20 different WI State Parks, 7 different WI State Forests, 10 WI State Trails, 5 WI State Natural Areas, 10 different counties along the Ice Age Trail, and 3 WI State Recreation Areas. (What a great challenge to get us outdoors all over the state!)
GC2T5CD – Wisconsin Virtual Challenge – Find all 86 active virtual caches in Wisconsin (Found 64 so far, 22 more to go)
These will likely take several years to complete!
12/09/2016 at 12:00 pm #2052637An event just popped up here in Eau Claire. I thought it was kind of relevant to this topic and a very nice idea for an event: GC6XYJR

12/09/2016 at 12:16 pm #2052638Fun idea, but we’re out of that one…we have dropped “caching goals” from our caching vocabulary. Congratulations to all who have reached the ones they’ve set themselves!
12/09/2016 at 12:59 pm #2052640Wi_pattymel loves being On The Road Again, hoping to finish the Lower 48 states in 2017, 5 to go, completed the State Park Series which was awesome, and have returned to some of those already, interesting to see all the challenges out there on this post! Happy Holidays to all our friends!
02/09/2017 at 8:42 pm #2053665Currently, I am working on the Utah DeLorme Challenge. The best way to see all of a state is to do either a county challenge or a DeLorme. For those who have not yet done the Wisconsin DeLorme challenge or the Badger State County challenge, I suggest you start making spring plans for road trips.
