It took me a while to figure this out about pathtags. Unlike geocoins, pathtags are personal coins that when found or received, you get to keep! Some owners give them out or trade to geocachers they meet, often dropping them off as swag in a cache, and some people collect the pathtags they find or receive. The tracking number is the same on all of a particular pathtag, so many will log the same pathtag – you don’t have to move them on and there isn’t a mission; they’re collectable! All of that I already knew. What I recently realized is that it’s a nice courtesy to log them, perhaps with a brief comment, as a way of thanking the pathtag owner for putting these out as a gift to others. Here’s the ones we’ve found or received so far that are from people we know or are local geocachers (thanks!!!!!).
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
