Sadly, it can happen. Last year the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point geocaching club threw a three day event with a Friday meet-n-greet, and a full day of new caches and a CITO. Friday night saw some good attendance, the caching event saw okay attendance and things were pretty sparse when it came time to tote a garbage bag.
This was a great event. They put a lot of hard work into it, had a geocoin made, got the Visitor and Convention Bureau involved, held a CITO and put out some high-quality caches. By rights, they should have been mobbed with attendees.
Well, this year they are sandwiching a Friday evening event, GC1Q2XQ, and a Sunday event with 25+ new caches, GC1M0C0, around the WGA CITO event GC1N3AC. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend all three of these events. We can’t make the CITO due to my work commitments, but we’ll be at the other two and hope to see you there.

I have to work meaning I miss out on:
1.this event 🙁
2.a TaeKwonDo tournament 🙁
3.yard work (guess its not all bad) 😀I do get to fill in for our preacher Sunday morning though, and then go to work.
Maybe I can work the Friday one in.

They will probably lose out on some people due to that being opening weekend of the fishing season.
I know we have prior commitments on that weekend, so we will be close to home. It would have been nice to return to Point. That’s where the wife and I met.
Good luck with the event.
04/25/2009 at 4:02 am #1906407I lso have a prior commitment and there is the event in Wausau that weekend.

Actually, the Wausau CITO is sandwiched between the UWSP Friday and Sunday events.

04/25/2009 at 10:09 pm #1906410HB, thanks for the heads up we may try to make the Friday event depending on when we drive up for the Wausau event

This Meet & Greet will be located on campus in the Dreyfus University Center in the Basement Brewhaus.
Exact time will be announced shortly, but it will be in the late evening. Just enough time for non-locals to come to Point, get settled into a hotel or campground and head on over for a couple hours and then be back in time for plenty of sleep before the geocaching hunting begins.
looks like the time is not set yet. Keep checking back to the cache page.

04/28/2009 at 1:48 pm #1906413Pete on the spot again (where’s the little approval emoticon?). I was gone over the weekend and couldn’t answer myself. No matter what level of organization this is going to be a fun event. We’ll be there for both, and Sunday Bandits & Zuma, WI_Robin and the little one should be attending. Marc too I believe?

05/02/2009 at 11:32 am #1906415The irony is that I got to this event during the posted times, and they even mentioned they would likely be there until 10 in their listing, and at 8:45 nobody was there. So I ask what if you went to an event and no event was there?
