I am still using a Legend C, and I like it a lot. I have used Robin’s 60Sx, but dont really like it as well due to the constant calibration issues and the need to hold it level. My legend C has a lot of miles on it, is scratched all to heck and is scuffed, but it still works great.

Hope to upgrade to a Colorado some day, when the price comes down a tad. 500 bucks is a bit too steep for me, when the one I got works fine.

    Excellent forum question. 😆
Our geocaching started when the Blondie Bloodhound (thanks BB) gave me for Christmas (awhile back) a Garmin iQue 3600. I had just planned on using it for my own lost prevention and as a Palm OS / Desktop calendar thing. That was kinda cool. 8) All the Map Source stuff and that etc etc.

Then, I went to the Garmin web-site 💡 and saw the link to geocache dot com. The rest was history…………. ❗

Now, back to the question at hand. We use a Garmin eTrex in the field. Put in on a Ram mount for the bikes (motor-less-motion) snowmobiles (snomocaching) and the boat (aqua-caching) so that works out.

But now because the Blondie Bloodhound has been out doing some noon time (lunch-o-caching) with the Curly Girls who just loves her Garmin 60Cx so now The Blondie Bloodhound thinks we should get one too!!! 😆 😆 😆

And, with that new unit comes a larger display which will be great for my declining eye-site (read old age) so I got that going for me.

So, I have been happy with the Garmin folks and their GPSr units.

OK, if everyone is bragging…..here are all the Grmin’s I have owned:

    xTrex

    GPS V (Sheila 1.0)

    Venture

30cs? (Which ever one I won at the Eau Claire event back then….)

    Venture

    Street Pilot 2360 (?) (Sheila 2.0)

    Venture

    WOW!

Marc… It sounds like you could open a GPSr museum!

    #1887961

Jeez, Marc can’t open a museum, on the count of you have to know what ya have to open a Museum!!

    Marc has a Streetpilot 2610, not a 2360

Marc then had a Legend C that he won in Eau Claire!!!

    OK, I’ll Shut up now!!!!

So I really do not need to know the name of the GPS in order to use it!

The xTrex, Legend and the GPS V are gone. Sold or given away.

The Ventures were worn out! That is what happens when you cache so much!

Currently I have a Venture and the Street Pilot.

Yeah Marc, that’s True, but someone has to give you crap!!!

We started with a trusty yellow eTrex, but it looks like I get to be the first to go off the board with a DeLorme Earthmate PN-20. I wouldn’t recommend it for caching yet, but they keep making it better. Being flash upgradeable, new features are added regularly.
The multi-level maps are great. The unit has routing for street AND trails, millions of POIs, 800 characters for waypoint descriptions and support for any size SD and SDHC cards.
I’m not sending it back. 🙂

I have a Garmin Etrex Legend. Seeing I am fairly new to caching I seem to like this model. For awhile I was also using the Delorme street program on my laptop to get me close as far as the routes go. But now I have a TomTom one XLS………….soooooooooooooooooo much easier ( & smaller) to use for route planning 😆

    #1887966

Garmin V on the road for auto routing, and Garmin GPS III in the field for all of my finds. 😀

We didn’t want too many bells and whistles, so we opted for the yellow etrex H when we finally started looking for caches. The H is supposed to lock on to the satellites faster and works better in cover, and I suppose it does, and it takes us right to the caches, for the most part.

We enter coordinates manually, but we haven’t gone on any big cache runs yet–probably won’t. We use the DeLorme for a map source to see where we’re going initially.

BTW, my 88-year-old uncle has a newer handheld Garmin (not sure which one) that he uses on trips, and he and my now 90-year-old aunt wanted to try out geocaching with us at Thanksgiving. I couldn’t figure out his unit in the short time we had (he thought he would understand it better if he read the manual first). Found a couple of caches, though, and we’re going out with them when we visit them in May (urban caching).

We have a Garmin 60CSx. We bought it second hand from my step-dad. It’s come in handy for a lot more than geocaching, though, once we bought a map of all the roads in the states.

I use a Garmin 60cs and my witf uses a garmin legend the blue one. i started out with a lawernace h2o but i did not like it because if i zoomed to location lets say about 50 feet it would start to bumble bee me all over the place as much as 300 feet from my location.
