My son specifically seeks golf balls in caches.
As does Marc!!!

What’s the Point? Does?!
And, marc ❗ 😉Now, I know where they are going. Now, if I can just get them into a bison tube.
So, where are they all coming from then? 😆

I know you said any type of food, but animal treats, run across dog treats quite often. Had some coffee in one found recently..
Anything that can rust – pencil sharpeners(put a byop warning on the page instead), buttons, etc.
Paper products not in a baggie.
rust? What about the ammo can itself… it will rust. But I know what you mean. I remember opening a metal cookie type can taht had about an inch of brown water in the bottom. But it wasn’t the contents, it was the container itself rusting out.
The pencil sharpeners are actually a great thing to have becuase inevitably the pencil breaks. As long as it satys in the bag with the log and pencil, it should be ok.
05/29/2009 at 3:39 pm #1908431I don’t think anyone mentioned lighters yet. Butane should not be in there, or any other flammable chemical.
And I saw the note about box cutters but I’d include disposable razors with that too. Found a cache in door county, opened the cam and pulled out the log book. The boys started digging around in th swag and my 1 year old pulls out this disposable razor! NOT COOL! Fortunately the cap was on and I saw him with it right away. I was not pleased about that though. Also found 2 lighters on that trip. DC is a dangerous place to cache apparantly.
And sorry if this was already mentioned but also pocket knives (even the small ones) or anything that could be considered a weapon. It’s almost to the point where – if you can’t take it on an airplane, don’t put it in a cache.
The last thing we need in the sport is for people to start discovering contraband in caches. I was in steven’s point last weekend and saw some used homeade bongs near GZ. That’s bad enough.
05/29/2009 at 9:02 pm #1908432I once found an unused diaper in a cache. Yuck even if it was not used, who would take one in trade? And then put it on your kid?
06/12/2009 at 2:18 am #1908433Crayons! Did anybody mention crayons??? I just checked one of my ammo boxes. Someone had put two 12-count boxes of crayons in it and some unsupervised kids or inconsiderate adults must have dumped them out rummaging through it 🙄 I may have to go back and tape the boxes shut cuz they won’t stay put in those flimsy little boxes. ARGHHH! And say, don’t those things melt in the hot summer sun? I seem to remember that happening once to my daughter’s crayons. Sorry for venting…did I mention that I hate crayons 😡

Well, I am sure there is a crayon “collector” out there somewhere ❗
🙂 🙂 🙂06/12/2009 at 4:21 am #1908435Money.. that dirty money. it should not be in caches…..
please go to all your caches and take out all the money and send it to me.
I will get rid of all that dirty dirty money for you.Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
06/12/2009 at 4:36 am #1908436I didn’t see it mentioned, but I think Condoms should be added to the list.
We recently found a cache in the U.P. near Ishpeming, MI That had a whole assortment of Colored condoms. Yes these do promote safety but are NOT kid friendly as I even thought to myself when I seen them; “hmm, wonder why all these colored balloons are individually wrapped” lol.
06/12/2009 at 4:48 am #1908437Another one not mentioned, beer.
On one of our old cache I recently adopted out, Reuben’s Cave GCNVC1, You were almost guaranteed to find a naturally cave cooled refreshment(beer) in the cache.
I was cleaning it out monthly for awhile but finally started only going out every 6 months or so. I’m pretty sure these were not left my cachers, but the numerous people visiting the site via Canoe trips who just happened to find the cache in its dark cool hiding place.06/13/2009 at 1:13 am #1908438Poked my finger on a rusty fish hook, found BBs, matches, lighters, and a not so nice book.
