Zuma is the name of the Neil Young album that I was listening to when I first signed up to gc.com. The name of the record comes from Zuma Beach in California, where Neil lived at the time. Robin picked me up a rock from Zuma Beach when she was out there a few years ago, so that is kind of cool.

Zuma is not necessarily my favorite Neil Young record, so in a way the name was random. Many of my early caches are named for Neil Young songs. My first cache placed was “Everybody Knows this Is Nowhere,” a particularly great Neil song. In genearal, my caches with Neil Young song titles are all songs that I love by Neil Young, and they come from his oldest works in the late 60s right up to recent releases like “Spirit Road,” a rocking wonderful song by Neil that no one has heard of.

Can anyone guess where mine came from? Jerrys Mom is out there too, but we decided just to use mine.

Cool thread… I’m enjoying reading the stories. 😀

When I first started (and even now, occasionally), people thought I was PharmTeam’s daughter (nope, no relation). I just happen to be another pharmacist who had the same idea for a cacher name.

I drive truck and it seems like a I smash thousands of bugs each day with my windshield. 69 came from when I was trying to make a yahoo email account and the other 68 were used all ready.

I actually asked the Pharmteam that question during the Cache Ba$h this year.

Thanks for posting this thread! I wanted to post it when I was new to the WGA, but I figured it had already been discussed before I joined.

Amita is the Latin word for the father’s sister, which I am to my nephew. He has two aunts with the same first name, but I am the only amita. 17 has been my favorite number since I was a small child.

Interesting stories to read, even among the “obvious” names. Keep them coming!

Well, it all started when I signed up to play Fantasy Football, many , many moons ago. I needed a Yahoo ID and Email. Being a Packers fan and cheesehead was a no go, I punched in gbcheezehead and that worked. I started playing cribbage on Yahoo, and everyone though I was from Green Bay. So when I signed up I entered Hayward Cheezehead and it’s been all down hill since.

Northern Lightz came from camping….. OK here’s the story. We got a trailer last year. We have a permanent site, where other family members and friends have campers also. A total of 8 or 9 campers all together. So joking around one night around the campfire all of us decieded to make names for our campers. (ie. Eagle’s Nest, Bear Den, Hide-a-way) We couldn’t think of one. But, while at another campers campfire they were laughing because they can tell whenever we’re up. When we asked why they said that they can see the glow from all the lights we put up and that it looks like the Northern Lights. So we came up with the camper name. It stuck because we were caching with our cousin Jeff (Jerry’s Dad) and family while camping and we had to think quick to sign the log.

P.S- We have probably 20-30 different types of lights (beer mugs, duck calls, fish, horses, stars, cowboy boots) Solar lights, a light up palm tree and of course a solar powered flamingo! We know corney but it’s fun!

Waaaaaay back when oh 25 years or so ago I was heavily involved in playing D&D (Dungeons & Dragons). My favourite character name was Averith, so when I signed up for my accounts here and on geocaching.com that’s what popped into my head as a username. For some time we went with Averith and Team Ferret because we run a small ferret rescue but the ferrets have been slowing disappearing from our lives so we decided to go with just Averith to keep it simple.

That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. 🙂

Ummm, since the Summer of 2000 I have owned a Mazda Miata. I had no idea this hobby would stick and was using the name Miata for almost every sign in at the time.

Ours is actually pretty boring compared to some of them but it’s just both of our intials. We started out as dolphin92 (which was actually a name our daughter picked out) but when she decided she wanted her own account we thought that raslas fit us better than dolphin92.
