Nothing too earth shattering about ours. Trekkin’ is very involved in historical trekking or “historical archaeology,” as they like to call it and I’m an avid birder. We could have also been Trekkin’ and Scrappin’ based on my scrapbook/paper arts hobby, but that didn’t sound so great, though perhaps accurate at times! LOL

10/03/2009 at 3:30 pm #1914769Picking a caching name is like naming a baby–you’re stuck with the handle forever.
But it was easy for us, being in central Wisconsin and surrounded by sand. Lots of “Sand County” and “Sand” names in businesses and organizations around here. Even Aldo Leopold’s “A Sand County Almanac” is partially about Adams County (October).
So, like people who call themselves highlanders, lowlanders, flatlanders, islanders, etc., etc., as people of the sand, we are sandlanders.
Note: If you google sandlanders, you get lots of stuff about a soccer team in Ghana. That’s not us. 😉

Cool thread… I’m enjoying reading the stories. 😀
When I first started (and even now, occasionally), people thought I was PharmTeam’s daughter (nope, no relation).
When I first saw your name that’s what I thought.
Most everyone already knows…I’m Lostby7 because I lost a bike race by 7 seconds and I like the tag because it reminds me to try a little harder.
As an aside I know I could have won that race if I hadn’t been run off the road on a down hill by a passing car….but then who would I be? I think I would have chosen some variation of “TheGate” as that was my online gaming name for many years.

Actually, I didn’t know. I assumed that by 7:00 pm, you are lost in the woods.

My side hobby is maming people who are eating cheetos while they are riding busses.

10/03/2009 at 6:37 pm #1914773I have been using my online name since about 2000 when I signed up for my first e-mail address. I have been using the following cut and paste explanation since about the same time:
Explaining The Name:
I use the name Happy Hodag! because The Hodag Country Festival is an annual event in Rhinelander, Wisconsin! Every year, when you go, you can usually find people saying “Happy Hodag!” to each other!

TEI’m sure it was the fact that I also made it a point to find the three caches that were active in Rhinelander’s Hodag Park when I was there back in July.

10/04/2009 at 4:06 pm #1914779My Mom has a wiener dog named Rudy… after Rudolph the reindeer as he was born on Christmas Eve.
