My username (lmcgisme) is the same I use for almost everything – an old, old, username from back in the day when you could use only eight characters with no spaces or special characters, and just lower case. Trying to come up with a unique AOL username without doing the usual ‘just add numbers’ I came up with lmcgisme –
    L for my first initial
McG for start of last name
is me – because it’s my username and it rhymed – LMcG is me

It’s not a capital I with an Irish form of slang for a male action – although I must admit that’s what it looks like and I’d change it if I could.

Groundspeak became much more liberal about a year ago with regard to name changes. Just drop a note to [email protected] and ask for a name change. I’m pretty sure they will do it for you.

I did this exact thing about 3 months ago and they did it within 24 hours. Great customer service.

We have probably 20-30 different types of lights (beer mugs, duck calls, fish, horses, stars, cowboy boots) Solar lights, a light up palm tree and of course a solar powered flamingo! We know corney but it’s fun!

Growing up, our neighbor always called them “idiot lights,” but I suppose that wouldn’t make as good of a screen name. (We have mixed drink “idiot lights” for our camper.)

While I do like cheetos and busses…

Before my days of GPS, I lugged around my trusty Gazetteer every trip (still do, but it’s a little more lonely). My motto was never go back the same way you came. I have a friend I’d 4-season camp with that I nicknamed Backwoods. Because of my “off the beaten path” driving, he started calling me Backroads. It stuck.

For caching, I shortened it to BakRdz to make it easier to write along with a date in some of those teeny tiny logs…especially after seeing how small some people have to write to cram a long name into a 1/4 inch space.

Actually CodeJunkie was my new name but our family name was changed to include some uppercase letters to make it easier to read on logs and online. It’s obvious there’sa GUID (Global Unique ID) behind each of these some from a CodeJunkie’s perspective it’s a pretty simple update. Our original family caching name was marksfamily which got changed to MarksFamily.

Kc9gbo is my ham radio call, originally it was just me and never thought we’d get so hooked. Well, now everybody in the house likes to go so we sign and crew. Oldest boy spun off his own account so he signs below our signature usually as his name Zach K. but hardly ever logs the find.
Thinking of changing it to better reflect us, but not sure what to change it to.

    Theory #1.
1967 (or thereabout) Boy Scout Troop 22 (Sturgeon Bay) decided to hike to Bear Paw Scout Camp located in Mountain, Wi. This was a hike of 120 to 130 miles. We left Monday morning and arrived Saturday at noon. Being summer we all decided to shave our heads to beat the heat. With an oversized cranium and just a hint of fuzz leftover, someone said it looked like a giant peach. And thus the name. The 107 came from the union I am a member of.

    Theory #2.
    Watermelon107 was taken.

    Theory #3.
I once ate 107 peaches in world record time.

I work for a Sheriff’s Dept as a Jailer. We wear the same uniforms as the Deputies so everytime someone sees us in uniform they always ask if we arrested someone today. I love the parents that say to there kids behave or the officer is going to arrest you. The common response is nope I’m just a Jailer. I was thinking of getting that as a license plate so I shortened it to JSTAJLR. Never did get the plate but I’ve used the name ever since. Most people call me just call me J.

It’s fun to hear what’s behind the names. Hubby quickly signed us up when he bought a GPSr. We’ve been RedwingRR for a long time and he used that without a 2nd thought. The RR stands for Rhodesian Ridgeback – a dog. I’ve been addicted to them for quite a while. When we bred a littler we had to come up with a kennel name. We’re in the country, near wetlands and there are lots of redwing blackbirds, plus the dogs are reddish, so that fit. We’ve been wondering if we should switch to a different name for geocaching but… so far we haven’t. What do you think? The redwing blackbirds are pretty darn persistant – that sort of fits.

I work for an energy conservation firm … that’s me in the white shirt, to the right of the lady airing her armpits … link

While “EnergySaver” is thus a logical choice … at the time I figured, who cares what I’m named, it’s just a login in name to a website … never thought it would become my identity to other people.

I always wish I had gone with something more fun, to fit my creativeness … but it’s been too many years to start with a new identity.

I got my GPS and was so excited to get my first cache. I was sitting there trying to think of what to pick for a name and a dove landed right on the fence in front of me and looked lonesome. So I came up with Lonesumdove. I also love the Lonesomedove series of books, Dove chocolate and doves in general. My first name is Laurell and a dove flew back to the ark with a branch in it’s beak and represents peace. I have shorted it now to LDove because that is what I used to write in the logs anyways and a couple people thought I was “lonely” and I got a few interesting e-mails! 🙄 😳 😀 I am enjoying reading the other stories. I want to hear how burrgirl got her name, I would have loved to pick that one myself! 😆
