Something odd going on here, with these brand new caches ….
GCY089
GCY06R
GCXZWH
GCXZWP… either someones GPSr is going wacko — either the owner (mimixrider) or the attempted finder (Team Moped) — or we have some kind of geo-anomaly flying over Sheboygan 😮
Then you got this one that’s filling itself up with log entries … GCY07X … spooooky 😯
Hmmmm … maybe the owner made some mistakes, since they hid 11 caches in the same day; or maybe they have the coordinates to some caches switched with the descriptions of another.
09/01/2006 at 12:38 am #1765031It looks like all 4 caches are authored by the same person. I’m guessing there is something seriously wrong with his/her GPS’r or, he/she is converting one set of coords. to another, improperly.
09/01/2006 at 1:28 am #1765032All the DNF were also from the same person so there is the possibility that his receiver was the one with the problem. Guess the only way to tell would be if someone else checks things out.
09/01/2006 at 1:58 am #1765033The new cache with all the names in the log book…now that’s something. I wonder if they found the right cache. Last weekend, while searching for a local cache, we came across another container nearby that I initally thought was either a decoy or a bonus. I opened it up and read the logbook and saw that it was supposed to be a cache that was placed there about 2 years ago, but never listed.

What other cache was this near, or what were the co-ords of the unlisted cache?
09/01/2006 at 12:41 pm #1765035It was at “the Buzzy Holly Cache” GCWGEF. From the looks of it, only one other previous finder had found the cache. It was only about 2 ft from the cache I was looking for, in fact I actually spotted this one first since it wasn’t covered at all. I talked to Senior Searchers about it, and Bill said he would contact the cache owner, Ribarnica. The cache would have been named “El Cheapo” or something like that, and it was placed there sometime in 2004. I have no idea whether he tried to list it, or why it wasn’t published previously.
09/01/2006 at 1:38 pm #1765036Looks like we got ourselves a good old-fashoned mystery here….
Maybe we can get Shaggy and Scooby on the case?
There are no nearby archived (not listed) caches on geocaching.com. Maybe it is part of another geocaching game? (Navicache or something?)

In this case (the Sheboygan cache), the nearest caches is listed as 0.9 miles away … that’s pretty far, to have strayed.

Or the final stage of a multicache that started somewhere else?

The only caches with the name “El Cheapo” come up as being in New Jersey … now that’s one heck of a multi!
09/03/2006 at 11:22 pm #1765040while stuck here at work, doing 12 hour shifts over the holiday weekend, Bushwhacking Queen used me as an info gatherer for some of these caches.
GCY089 now has new coordinates posted in the log, by beu11boy – problem there was that the west coords were listed as W 087.50.xxx and they were suppose to be W087.48.xxx
GCY06R BQ stated that this one was within 12 ft.
GCXZWP 9/2 there were 2 relatively new cachers who found this one.
Something weird must have been going on with Team Mopeds GPSr. I HATE when that happens!!! Kinda like that one weekend last September, when I was up in the Crivitz area, TRYING to place temps for my event and there was absolutely NO satellite reception for several hours. Kinda creeped me out. to top that off, I got a call thru to my cell when I was was down in a ravine, where there should have been NO reception for cells at all. Go figure!! LOL
09/04/2006 at 12:49 pm #1765041We found several of MiMX Rider’s caches last June with no real problem. We found the coords to be as close as any.
So either his GPS went kerflooie or that particular finder is having trouble.
I’d have to put my money on the finder (or his GPSr) having a lousy day.

Just to clarify … as of this time, the owner has NOT updated the coordinates, so the listed coordinates are still wrong; they’re only correct in FuFu’s log entry on the cache.
09/04/2006 at 6:44 pm #1765043Actually the are listed by “bue11boy”in the log……can’t take the credit for the corrected coords!!. 🙂
09/05/2006 at 4:12 pm #1765044The coordinates are off by 2 miles, yet they still found it! We want to team up with them.
