Thought this might be a fun poll about time management. What do you do when the weather is perfect (as we had this weekend in the Milwaukee area), but there are multiple chores that need to get done (raking, lawn care, clean up, etc.). This is especially tough in the fall because you like to take advantage of the last of the warm weather, but those darn leaves keep falling.
10/27/2009 at 7:44 pm #1915856I have to get one cache a day and my wife is OK with that. So I usually go early in the morning before she is up or in between chores / jobs. I believe in the work hard / play hard mentality. Everybody should take a break from work.
10/27/2009 at 8:49 pm #1915857Most of my caching is done early AM so that I can still hang with the fam when they finally drag their sorry butts out of bed at 9am. Seriously…do you know how many caches can be found before 9am?
10/27/2009 at 9:27 pm #1915858Being semi-retired and geocaching go great together. A few caches (6 today) before work during the week each day locally and one or two short trips caching on the weekends. Last weekend was grab a few on the way to the All-A-Glow Event and some on the Ice Age Trail on Sunday. This has been giving us about 100 per month. I also have to fit in hiding somewhere in between. I try to hide 4-5 each month (50 so far this year). Oh yeah chores: only on really rainy days so I never do catch up.
10/27/2009 at 11:53 pm #1915859Work, family, volunteer responsibilities, caching. It’s all a great mix. I do a lot of my caching on the way to work (many FTF’s this way) or during the lunch hour. If I’m not out caching at lunch time, I try to work on the various puzzles sitting in the “Puzzle” pile hoping to move them to the “Solved” Pile. I also utilize different routes home to allow my daily fix of attempting at least 1 as weather / time permit.
I wish, I wish, I wish – could lead to a whole lot of things, but for now I have to settle for the caching when I can. Hopefully in another 25 years caching is still around and I’ll be able to enjoy it more regularly when I’m retired.
10/28/2009 at 1:23 am #1915860I start at sunrise, whatever time that may be. Fewer muggles, less traffic, and it gets me out of bed when I may be tempted to sleep late. Most days I am not able to devote a whole lot of time to caching, so I plan say 10-15 to attempt. When that is done, found or DNF, I am done. Then come chores or other obligations. If I have a day that is full, caching is saved for another day.
10/28/2009 at 1:30 am #1915861My priorities have recently changed a bit.
Last year, I was able to cache sunup to sunrise on most days off, and that was great.
This year, my baby is 6 months old and we are not putting in her day care at all yet so I spend a lot more time changing diapers and and giving bottles. I get furloughed from dad duty to go caching only with negotation and planning. I really like caching, but it does not compare to the joy of holding a baby.

AAWWWWWW! Well put Ralph!
( I can do without the diaper thing, but with a 2 1/2 yr old, the moments are just as precious 😀 )

10/28/2009 at 2:29 am #1915863With it just being the two of us (as of now) and being newlyweds (just had our 1 yr aniv) we go whenever we get a day off together. With Tim being a retail store manager when we get a day off together we cache. We never cache without the other one. Silly we know.
We got a GPS for a present so we would always have something to do with each other. It’s cheaper than going to the bars, less headaches (unless we hit our head on a branch.) And if we feel like life is getting to us, its our alone time.
Besides, it will rain sometime we can do laundry then. 😛
10/28/2009 at 3:12 am #1915864Good topic for today. First really nice day in a while. Raked leaves and did yard work Saturday and Sunday, family obligations yesterday. So what if there are still chores to do outside before the winter sets in? And the house is never going to get organized or be fully clean. That’s why I voted for #2.
Mr. Sandlanders, on the other hand, would vote for #1 if I would let him near the computer. Had some delicate negotiations going on before we headed out to cache this morning. Working around the house the next few days. 🙁
And #4 is true, but it doesn’t address the caching issue. We do have the option to cache during the week (to avoid the crowds, you know), and that’s when most of our caching is done.
Ah, Northern Lightz, still the newlyweds . . . agreeing on everything . . . 😉
10/28/2009 at 3:32 am #1915865I voted for number 2 but the weather doesn’t have to be perfect.
Twice last week I hunted caches in the wind/rain/cold. I’ve been known to go out geocaching when school has been closed for either a snow day or a cold day. Tami10/28/2009 at 4:32 pm #1915866@zuma wrote:

Zuma, find a used Kelty baby backpack on craigslist. Look for one that has a rain / sun fly. They are perfect for caching with a baby. Elizabeth starting going with me when she was 9 months. I now take her every morning rain or shine.
10/28/2009 at 4:34 pm #1915867Voted for 2, but no so much because of the the weather. Even if it’s raining or snowing, if someone is willing to go cachinig, I’m in.
10/28/2009 at 8:12 pm #1915868Chores? What are those? Well, at least the Battleships are sunk. 😆
10/28/2009 at 8:27 pm #1915869I voted number one just because school has to come first. If not I would fall behind and that won’t work!
