Should be a hopefully fun discussion on something that has bugged me for awhile..
Where do caches that disappear go to? I ask this as I went searching this past winter for this cache: GC1MGT1
and as you can tell it is a hard one in a lonely area, but it was gone! Like nowhere nearby!! So how does one in a place like that disappear? I can understand hunters finding it, or a hiker if it was an easily accessible place but not this one. I’ve since done others that also seem to have disappeared and have begun to wonder where did they go?
So is there a cache robber? rodent? hunter? Aliens? Let’s hear your thoughts!
Other side of the coin is, where do they end up? Bermuda Triangle? Garbage dump? Mars…06/08/2010 at 1:17 am #1930593frustrated carbohydrate delivery people.
06/08/2010 at 1:59 am #1930594I would say “all of the above” except aliens 🙄
Is a “cache robber” considered a geocacher as opposed to it being muggled by a muggle? 😈 I believe I have a geocacher who on occasion will rob a cache of mine (earth angel’s) and not rob any of Professor’s. It reminds me of how my tb hotel, gc hotel, and jeep hotel have been raided awhile back by a geocacher/s and not a muggle 👿 But that’s another thread…06/08/2010 at 2:07 am #1930595All those bears in the other thread….the ones with bits of camo tape and McDonalds toys in their poop!
06/08/2010 at 2:19 am #1930596Since we are talking your neck of the woods, I voted for aliens. I know of a couple of caches there that involve aliens, so that is the most logical choice.

06/08/2010 at 3:19 am #1930598Yeah, I tossed that one in just for that reason as an example of how could it disappear?
To find the ones with Aliens do a search for TheBalk’s as owners and you will find at least 2 fun caches with aliens as the theme. I added aliens in just as a light hearted idea to make this a fun thread.06/08/2010 at 4:41 am #1930599I would add floods to the list.
06/08/2010 at 4:50 am #1930600Why isn’t Bigfoot on this list?
I’ll never forget the cache I found that had been chewed on and opened by a bigfoot. This cache was found tampered with by bigfoot 3 times in the span of about a month.
06/08/2010 at 5:15 am #1930601Ya, forgot bears, raccoons, badgers, squirrels, chipmunks and skunks and loggers (them cutters can flatten a ammo can flat! 😯 )

Squirrels and Chipmunks are rodents.

LOL, it is surprising what a fallen tree can do to an ammo can:

(argh, can’t figure out how to make the picture show up on the post)
06/08/2010 at 3:36 pm #1930605Cache robbers? Without a doubt. There is, and has been plenty of that going on.
Muggles? Yup, nuf said.
Rodents? Oh yeah! Found plenty of caches not where they’re supposed to be, and full of teeth and claw marks.
Aliens? Well personally, I#^•^£^>)(•()?^ ± THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN EDITED BY MIB
