I have noticed in a few logs left by geocachers that they recommend “exceptional” places to eat near caches they have done.
I found this very helpful on my geocaching excursion. The recommended place in Farmington Missouri was “Warehouse BBQ” which the geocacher raved about. We decided to try it and from the outside we had reservations about going in but it was definately the best food we had on the trip.
Any recommendations around caches anyone has placed in Wisconsin would make a nice topic of discussion and would be very helpful to those who might be looking for a place to eat.

My “What the Honest Man Sees” virtual cache (waypoint=GC8406) is very near State St. in Madison. There are many good eatin’ places there. One of my favorites is a Greek restaurant that is just a few blocks from my cache. I believe it’s name is “Zorba’s”. It’s very good and reasonably priced.

I Think I had some Greek food on State St years ago at a place called the Parthenon (sp?). Great food, maybe the same place?

Actually after finding “What an Honest man Sees” I headed to the Great Dane for a schooner of Crop Circle Wheat and some of their excellent Tomato Bisque soup with a sandwich.
Or was it J.T. Whitneys for a cold glass of Badger Red and some brats and uglies?
Perhaps it was Angelic for a Pale Blond and a burger.
This list could go on and on – tough to go wrong in Madison.

I think the Parthenon might be the other one on State St. If I remember right, there are two Greek places within a block of each other on opposite sides of the street. One warning: If you eat the ‘Spanikopita’ (sp?) watch for spinach stuck in your teeth. Mrs. Outtahand really looked ‘special’ after that meal! Also along State St. is a bar called “The Pub”. They have a section of seating that is right against the window. If you’re fortunate enough to grab one of those seats, you get quite a show of the people who walk around on State St. while you enjoy a beverage of your choice.

This looks like the beginnings of a project for some enterprising WGA member. We could encourage everyone to submit the name and coordinates for their favorite restaurants, cafes, and diners. Then someone could compile the list, make it available on a WGA page along with a downloadable .LOC file.

Another idea would be to list the restaurant name and coordinates on the page of your nearby cache so geocachers can have them on the printout.
