Well now that Safari bookmarks can be synced over the internet without using .Mac I might be leaning back over to Safari. The program is called Foxmarks http://www.foxmarks.com/ . It will sync up your bookmarks between Safari (Mac only), Internet Explorer (Windows only) , and Firefox (All supported OS’s). I don’t know quite yet, this might get me to switch back to using Safari as my primary and Firefox as my secondary browser.

I’ve been using Foxmarks with Firefox for over a year and it works great. Prior to that I used a number of different bookmark synchronization plugins for Firefox and IE for that worked somewhat but never seemed to get everything right… Foxmarks does. With 3 computers at home and another 3 at work, this program keeps me happy by giving me the same set of bookmarks at whatever computer I happen to be using at the moment.

They recently added a feature where you can (securely) synchronize your saved passwords too.

Yeah its a bummer this feature only syncs between Firefox and not with Internet Explorer and Safari.

To sync my bookmarks between multiple Pc’s, browsers, and Operating systems I just use googles customizable home page Igoogle, and have added the bookmark gadget. I’ve been using this method for at least three years & it still works great.

I also still use the browsers built in bookmark feature for things I am researching but have no use for as a permanent bookmark. I’m actually shocked how many useless bookmarks I accumulate in a few months this way.

Google Chrome “remembers” the sites you visit the most often and the home page is built up of “bookmarks” or “favorites” without having to tell it what to do. The sites move around on the page based on how often you use them. Guess which page is first?? 😀

And if your the secretive type you can always spawn a new incognito window and it won’t “remember” what you did 😉

Yeah and if Google would hurry up and make a Mac version I would be a happy camper and give it a try.
