I have been wondering which are the best of the virtual caches?
The cache that really sticks out in my mind is GC87F1 A Banner Day by rpaske.
Which are your favorites?

As a storm spotter for a number of years, I’ve been facinated this rare and deadly F-5 tornado. One of the few F-5’s to hit the state. The last one was the Oakfield F-5, July 18, 1996.
It was amazing to visit this historic location and think about the terror the residents must have endured.

Kit’n’kaboodles’ Hammerin’ Hank, Piggsville, or Old Testament Name
Yawningdog’s Ephraim Wetlands
Thraxman’s Moscow
Socko’s Chapel or Witches House
bjbest’s Lime kiln
Miata’s Red Hunter
Geotripper’s Crossing or Skavlem Houseare all contenders, and there are others. It is difficult to pick a favorite.

06/11/2004 at 1:58 pm #1746977I think it’s too bad that geocaching.com guidelines make it very hard to get a new virtual geocaches approved. As the admin approver for Iowa, I have to abide by their guidelines when reviewing new virtuals, but I wish the rules allowed for placing virtuals while on vacation if there are no other traditional or virtuals around.
Anyway, I checked our list to remind myself of some of the very nice virtuals we’ve done. My favorites all involve hikes (of course):
In Wisconsin,Castle View by GrouseTales
and Water’s Edge by Team Cachebarr
In Iowa, Holly Shrine by Danny Bishop
In Colorado, Deer Mountain by Myotis
In Italy,
Pompeii by Ron StreeterGC001 by madeira

06/11/2004 at 8:59 pm #1746978Moscow, We Have a Problem is one of my favorites. I think it’s a good example of what potential new virtuals should aspire to be.
06/12/2004 at 1:33 am #1746979Let me first state that I really like good virtuals. I am afraid that lame ones ruined what should be allowed in geocaching.
My Favorites in order of preference:
1- Llama’s Lament – my 500th cache had special meaning and was a great virtual in North Carolina.
2- Donner, Party of Five – a California cache which is located in a forest primival setting. Very cool.
3- Bonito Vista Al Mar – Somehow whenever I think of a virtual, I think of this T&B cache.
4- Wet Feets Cache – A Vermont Cache that is the only floating car bridge I have ever seen.
5- World Wide Quarters – very geocaching oriented.
