We’ve never been to Hartman, and looking at the DNR map I see a couple different shelters at the various lakes inside Hartman park. I only see one “beach”, and that’s where I’m assuming we are meeting, registering etc… That one is located at the Hartman Lake shelter, not the Allen Lake shelter which is closer to the group sites. Is this right? Thanks all, and we look forward to meeting you all and finally putting some faces with the forum names.
The home base will be at the beach shelter at the east end of Hartman Lake. It’s about as far as you can get from the group camp, so plan on going back and forth with your vehicle or bikes, unless you like long hikes.
The Allen Lake shelter is small with few amenities.
Come into the park entrance, and stop at the office if you have a family campsite or if you need to buy a park sticker. Otherwise, proceed south on the park road until you hit the T intersection. Right (west) leads to the family campground, and even farther is the group campground. However, everyone should go left (east) at that intersection and go all the way to the end of the road, passing the parking lot for the amphitheater on the left at one point. When you’re out of road, you’ll be in a huge parking lot then, and the beach shelter is right there through some trees. That’s where you’ll register for the event and get more information on the group camping.
Non-campers on any of the campout days who want to get information should go to the beach shelter first. That’s where the registration will be. The pancake breakfast will be there on Sunday, too.
Thank you very much. That clears it up completely. See you there.
