This isn’t official, but I had a list already made and just updated the totals. I didn’t take into account any cachers who may have a lot of hides and not many finds.

    Zuma 349
    Ecorangers 282
    Jim & Linda 265
    Rogheff 257
    Gr8eyes 248
    SeldomSeen 237
    vtwinspin 228

I have 195 active caches, out of the total of 391.

Nice to see Rogheff listed among the top hiders. He has quite a few hidden in other states as well.

224 active meaning nonarchived. ( I have a handful that get disabled for the winter because the area is closed or they don’t want hikers hiking on the cross-country ski groomed trails.)Tami

Well that’s a little insulting. We maintain all of ours regularly and my experience is that the people on this list do as well, even the top hider. I believe he has a car full of bison tubes ready to repair and replace as needed.

I think one of the main motives for those who hide in large numbers is that they enjoy it and all of the aspects of it including maintenance. For me it is the satisfaction that i get out of knowing that I’m contributing to the enjoyment of the sport. There isn’t anyone on that list that just drives down the road and tosses film canisters out the window. These hiders have given much thought to where a hide goes and what you will find when you get there. My thoughts are coming from someone who just misses the cut to be in the top 10 with 160 caches placed.

Thanks for the calculation and making it a top eleven.

      Mister Greenthumb

      160 hides
      127 active
      1 disabled
      32 archived
      dozens spinning in my head

47 logs of owner maintenance in the last 12 months ranging from a simple visit when in the area to replacing a missing container.

None of the 127 active currently have a “needs maintenance” log.

Since we keep logs and jugs, nanos and ammos, swags and bags handy for maintenance, we can do repairs on other caches that need it as well.

And we appreciate the others out there that help keep our hides functional and well maintained.

The key is keeping the caches fairly clustered, except for those few placed by inspiration at the spur of the moment. I will be archiving our cache in Mellen, and uws22 (Brian) will be developing a new WSQ cache in the area. Fine by us, and good luck! We look forward to another “smiley”! 😉

MG’s post got me thinking so I pulled our stats too. 97 owner maintenance logs in the last 12 months on ~ 200 caches.
