Don’t get me wrong, we have more frozen pizzas than I care to admit, especially during the colder months, but I do enjoy cooking (most of the time) and we usually eat at home, unless we’re traveling. A couple weeks ago when we were strapped for time, I decided to try the Chinese take out place in town. It was packed!

Anytime we make that kind of decision, I’m surprised at how many people just eat out. Our older son mentioned “cooking at home and making Aizy eat what’s on the table, instead of going out.” Well duh. That’s how *he* was raised.

I’m just curious…..who usually eats what’s cooked at home and who is more likely to go out or pick up take out? I’m not judging anyone here, just wondering if I’ve missed some kind of sea change at America’s tables.

As we attempt to go gluten free, we eat at home more often than not. Of course, my wife doesn’t work, so that helps too.

We eat at home most of the time. We may go out an average of once a week (or less).

With 3 children that are teens or tweens, plus sometimes their friends, we eat at home most of the time.  Unfortunately, the place we’re living in now is near Little Ceasars and their $5 pizzas are awfully tempting when I don’t feel like cooking.

When we first got married, I would shop the sales at the grocery stores and make weekly menus using those items. Then when we had a little more money, we would go out once in a while. After many years, I was thinking, “What can I come up with for meals… forever?” That realization kind of took the fun out of making meals (I still love to bake, though), so we tend not to cook full meals all the time anymore. Besides, when you’re caching all day, who has time to cook meals? 😉

(I should mention that sometimes I do a few things ahead of time and freeze them, but then I need to remember to thaw them in time to use for supper.)

Pork chops are in the crock pot right now. We use the crock pot a lot. We go out to eat twice a week or more. One of those days is caching day. We will be eating in Neenah this Saturday. Movie day usually involves a lunch date too. We rarely go out to eat after 5:00. Lunch prices are cheaper and the smaller portions are big enough for us.

I eat bring my own lunch to work and eat my own meals at home at most days, for economic reasons primarily.  Home cooked may mean with the assistance of processed foods, although I can manage actual cooking when I plan for it.  Eating out is mostly for the convenience of it when traveling, caching, or having an extra busy day.

We are going out for fish fry tonight. Put that where you want in the “Do we or don’t we?” discussion.

I thought about that too, Mrs. S, but I guess since we’ll be traveling the next couple days, we’re eating at home tonight.

We rarely go out. My husband loves my cooking. If we have a meal out that we liked I will dissect what is in the dish a make it at home. I find that meals out are not very healthy.

Culvers for lunch today and Fazolis for dinner. We were really hungry from bike caching and shopping for cookies at the Rippin’ Good Outlet. It was either stop and eat or open the cases of cookies.

Unless we are traveling, most of the time we eat at home.  Cooking from scratch but there are some days that it’s frozen pizza or a frozen entree I want to try.
