    Lets get some questions going.

Why do you want to run for the BOD and why have to decided to run at this time?

    Great question Chris.

I am going to start with your 2nd question first. I have run in the previous 2 elections, coming up a few votes short each time. Circumstances allowed me to serve on the Board for about one year. During that time I served as Secretary, planned 2 KidzKlub projects, co-chaired a themed camp out, as well as attended every WGA sponsored event.

I am running for the Board again this year because I know I made an impact during the time I served and I know I have more to give and offer. I want to continue to grow the KidzKlub, plan great events, and rekindle relationships the WGA has/had with other organizations.

I have enjoyed working with the board members that I have for the past two years, and while it is sad to see some of them moving on, I believe that I will have the opportunity to establish new relationships with the incoming board members. I also believe that, while it is vital to get new and fresh ideas, it is also important to have a degree of stability on the board, especially in the treasurer position. I hope to be able to provide that stability for the next two years.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

I honestly do not know that it would have occurred to me to run for the board if I had not gotten a surprise nomination. But I thought things over for a few days before accepting, and ultimately decided this was a good opportunity that I wanted to pursue. Other cachers in my area have started looking to me for guidance, and I really do enjoy helping the figure things out. Joining the board would help me increase my impact on geocaching across the state. I look forward to being able to better promote aspects of the game that will improve things for everyone. This will also give me an excuse to travel to areas I’ve not seen before, and meeting more of this great community. I also think that my past experiences should make me well-suited for the responsibilities of the board.

My comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.

I echo the sentiments of ACME_WildCachers.  When I was at the recent Fall Picnic, current BOD could see the excitement in caching that I had and it was my first WGA event.  While there two of the current BOD suggested I run.  Then a member asked me later on if I would run if nominated.  I thought about it for a few days and then said yes.  I would love to see Geocaching excel in Wisconsin.  Especially Western Wisconsin.

I’m Running “to give back” to all the geocaches I have found, I recently temporarily lost my job of the last 24 years, it gave me time to, well, Hike, Geocache and reflect. What else you going to do when you wake up one morning and the place you put all your talent in is a pile of bent steel and ash? Well after the shock wore off, knowing we’re rebuilding, gave me  much time with my thoughts and what I wanted to do in my spare time outside of 40 hr grind. Volunteering! I always wanted to do that.. but where? the monk garden? maybe.. the Ice age trail? I do enjoy that…friends of rib mt? I enjoy walking the trails there.. But! Geocaching?  I get the biggest thrill hunting the geocache. (you know that feeling) Following  Wga.com, (working on the wga geo art mystery) and  on F/B I saw the elections were near, needing 5 but only having 4 running. I watched and I watched. No one was stepping forward. Is that spot meant for me? My intuition said YES.

Of course this question comes back to bite me!

The ‘why now’ I think I answered in the time question. I’ve been asked about being nominated for a few years but decided no, not at that time. But the thought has continued to grow, now I feel that I have some capacity to give to one of the hobbies I have always enjoyed and had passion for.

As for why, part of it is to give back and help grow what those before us have done with the WGA. I think I have different skills that could help and a passion to do so. The WGA has created many opportunities that I have enjoyed, in both terms of events and caches, but also in relationships and I would love to help rekindle or grow what has been initiated as well as work on any new bright ideas that are created.
