    From the 2009 Picnic Thread-

1 raffle ticket per individual attending (given at registration, along with raffle plan, instructions, and prize list)

1 raffle ticket given if they can show they found 10 temp caches (for each booklet shown) and don’t give tickets for permanent caches)

1 raffle ticket given if they can show they found 25 temp caches (for each booklet shown)

1 raffle ticket for each bingo card with a bingo

1 raffle ticket for each blackout.

Basically everyone would get 1 ticket with no effort, 3 with minimal effort and up to 5 with lots of effort.

I found 25 perm cache. I would need to find 50 to get credit?????

    bored now…. 🙄

Q1: Did you know about the temp caches prior to the event?
Q2: Did you know that they factored into the drawing before you went looking for the permanent caches?

That is not the point.. the point is making it fair no matter what you do at an event! Your taking one part of this orginazations membership and saying: because you are not willing to do this part of the event, your being punished in this other part. And yes I used punished on purpose because the others are being rewarded!

Then the only way to make it fair to the entire membership is to not have a raffle. Members that aren’t willing to attend WGA events should not be punished because they did not take part. This is way past silly.
It appears that the 2010 Campout committee is still open for volunteers. Volunteering for the committee would be the best way to be part of that decision making process.

After 3-4 years of reading these boards I am still looking for a new argument for my entertainment. Would one of you creative types PLEASE come up with something new. PLEASE!

If interested, read my post on the other thread.

Kinda tough with a discussion split between 2+ threads.

Summary: don’t tie the temp cache activity to the general door prize raffle.

As I proposed on the BOD candidates corner thread, offer a unique prize for completing a certain amount of the temp caching activity.

If you continue to insist that proposal unfair, than I am done with this topic. It’s not unfair to offer a prize for folks who complete an event activity.

I went to the picnic. I didn’t win anything. I didn’t really care because my intention of going to the picnic was to have a great day (which I did), and not win stuff. Did I seek out temps? No. I only picked up 2, and that’s because they happened to be on the path that I traveled picking up perms. I Knew beforehand that I had less of a chance to win goodies by not searching out temps, and that’s a Choice that I made, and I’d make the same choice again. To me the prize was the people I met, the stories I heard, and the fun I did have.

The problem is that mentioning Temp Caches automatically splits people into camps regardless of what the actual question is.

If a sack race had been held at the event and raffle tickets were given to everyone who participated, but you went off to hunt caches while the race was on, you wouldn’t expect to get a ticket and I bet no one would be complaining about it.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. 🙄

Good point, but gr is correct. This issue doesn’t really have anything to to with the actual temp caches, but with a drawing.

    I’m allergic to burlap.

I don’t fit in the sack.

My doctor won’t let me go up and down.

My baby needs to be breast fed at that time.

Where was everyone? I thought it was at 3:00am.

    My car had a flat.

I was busy chasing my dog that ran off.

I want my ticket. This isn’t fair!!! 😆

My doctor won’t let me go up and down

    That is rather unfortunate 😆

    punishment / no punishment

    reward / no reward

hard for me to see that if you are not rewarded, you are being punished.

    DONE

Easy answer to solve this problem

Every one who attends the event gets a ticket for the general raffle prizes.

Have a seperate raffle with prizes that are only for those who looked for the temps. Not extra chances in the general raffle.
