This years Midwest Geobash will be August 7-10th in Kendallville, Indiana. A group of us went last year and as far as I know everyone had a blast. This years theme is parrots. I thought it would be cool to do a group coin project for those of us in WI going to MWGB. I am checking out the details to see what would be allowed on the coin, but it would go something like this:
1) There would be an agreed upon design, I was thinking maybe a shaped pirate parrot wearing a cheese-head – just one idea.
2) Each person participating would have to agree to purchase a certain amount of coins (probably minimum of 20)at probably about $8-9 each for a regular sized trackable coin.
3) Each person could choose their own colors for their coins. There would also be room to add you name or what ever personalization that you wanted to put on there – up to a certain number of characters.
4) The other option would be to do a group coin like the IL/WI Caching Without Borders coin. All of the coins would be exactly the same and would have the names of all of the participants on them.
Post here if you are interested in participating. Also post if you would like to do a simpler coin and choose your colors and your personalization, or maybe do a more detailed coin and just have your name on it. Also post how many coins you would like to have (or afford to have). We would need to have enough interest to make at least 250 coins to make this work.
When its time for a quote, please consider getting one from us. We mint coins now as well, and would be happy to compete. 😉

We would be interested in getting in on this either way is ok with us individual or group coin, you would have to keep the silly cheesehead off of it though lol. We hate anything that is even remotely associated with the damn packers.

How about a badger? But ya can’t use “Bucky” cuz of trademark issues.
Cheese heads don’t always mean Packers. Cows, light houses, deer and fish don’t represent all of Wisconsin either. How many light houses are in Madison, Eau Clair or Hudson? How about a brat and and mug of beer?
Here is a story. I was in Costa Maya, and one of the locals asked where I was from. I told him Wisconsin and he says “Si! Cheeeeeeessseee head”
Name “one” other object that represents ALL of Wisconsin.

I am open to any suggestions. I was just thinking about the cheesehead pirate parrot because the parrot is the theme for the MWGB this year. A little bit of good news. I contacted one company that has done several of these kinds of group projects and they thought even if you had the choice of any color option (glitter, glow in the dark, ect) it should be cheaper that what I said it would be. That would be for a 1.75″ shaped, trackable coin with an icon. If we do a round one, it would be less expensive. I will keep you updated when I know more. I hope we can get enough people interested so that we can do this project. I think it will be fun and I think they will trade great!

I really can’t give you an exact number unless I have art to send in. But I can tell you what I have gotten recently with those options . I think you can look at between about 6.22 and 6.75 for a trackable with an Icon. That is using the big guys. Using another option and foregoing glitters you could well be in the 5.75 range per coin.
If you have a sketch of what you are thinking let me know and I can get you exact pricing.

I’d be in for the group project, I like the cow idea as well. I’d be in for at least 30 or more depending on the pricing. I’d prefer a shaped coin even if it raises the price a bit.
